I've been following this thread for awhile, and it's interesting to see so much variance in rubbing based on trim/alignment even with the same size tires.
I was curious if anyone had more pictures facing towards the wheel wells to clarify clearances based on tire size and trim/alignment. It...
I bought my first truck after I got my accord high centered while off-roading. Had to have a friend sit on the hood to get contact with the ground again. After that I decided to split my passions in two and got a motorcycle and a truck instead of trying to use my accord for things it wasn't...
Cannot stop laughing at the "Honda Accord" as that was the way I was in high school, off roading my accord. For tires, since the SR wheels are only 7in wide, you'd have to go pizza cutters. I've got my SR 6MT on 33s (255 80r17) Toyo Open country at3's

Feel like I'd 2nd this. I had a hard cap on my t100 that had hydraulic soft open upwards, that was stupid convenient. Would love just some hydraulic dampers or something for the tailgate so I can drop it without worrying about it slamming and jarring anything inside loose
Same thing happens on my motorcycle after a long ride in the cold. As for OP, that's just normal operating noises, as the metal heats and cools down, it's gonna expand and contract. As long as nothing is cracked, you should be fine
I appreciate y’all putting in so much effort to make your trucks look more like mine haha
Here's my SR (manual gets the 270hp engine and TRD transmission ?) so I guess it's just my own personal sleeper build. Originally had the dealership sticker on the back window but I asked them to remove...
85 octane is really common in mountainous states in the US. It's just to offset decreased air intake at high altitude. It's deemed to be equivalent to 87 octane at sea level and I (living in Colorado) almost exclusively run 85 without issue 11,000mi. 87 is the minimum recommended assuming sea...
I'm just running 40psi for day to day. The pizza cutter style wheels can handle higher and lower PSI because they're so skinny, but I just run 40 as a safe middle ground for most of the highway drives I make.
For the skid plates, I liked that the RCI set had the quick access panel for oil...
Welcome to the community!
Appreciate the shoutout, I've really been loving the 255 80r17's to drive on. They feel like they're better made for the 6spd, they look great in my opinion, and it's a free 1.5 inch lift.
As for the skid plates, I went ahead and got a full set of RCI steel skids...
I ended up naming my truck Smokey because the day I bought the truck I started getting ash dropping from a fire up in the mountains, then when I drove down across the plains they were doing a lot of controlled burns
What a sweetheart, yeah, both my boys are rescue huskies. Huskies but even more quirks and psycho energy than a trained-from-puppyhood husky. I love them though and they keep me on my toes. They cuddle together in the backseat on roadtrips though and that makes everything easier
I personally like the lean-to look of the tilted tent, but I can definitely see someone making something similar with the extended topper.
To keep it in the spirit of the “leave no trace”, I just went down to my local thrift shop and got some lightly used tents and cut them to size for this...
Some friends were going up to the mountains for an overnight Memorial Day weekend trip and shot me an invite. Since I went from a 6’+ bed T100 with an ARE cap to a soft-top on the 5’ bed Tacoma, I wasn’t really sure how it was gonna go.
Went and looked at tent attachments for soft tops, but the...
Really curious if your odometer is mechanical, or GPS backed. Are those stock tires? When I increased tire size on my SR, speedometer reading high was fixed (it was reading about 3 mph high at highway speeds, but now it’s dead on), but odometer reads about 1/20th low. Whenever I calculate fuel...
I agree, no need to become accusatory, but I think this post by KJC sums it up pretty clearly.
There are two different recalls:
1) the faulty sensor/internal computer error for when towing on equipped models
AND (unrelated)
2) the brake lines being too scrawny on all the 4x4s with 17” wheels...
Got Toyo Open Country A/T 3’s 255 80r17 for my ‘24 and I’ve loved em, pizza cutters do better in the snow up here in the mountains. I sold the stock h/t’s to a nice guy trying to get some tires for his wife’s minivan at a pretty steep discount after about 2k miles, wasn’t really about the money...
Feel obligated to say thank you for your post a few months back about the Fastop Traveler. Helped me pull the trigger and get one myself, and it’s fit my truck and my lifestyle perfectly so far. I can’t get over how convenient it is to pop up the soft topper for camping or moving bigger things...
I have the SR manual, and he main things I can think of are
1) probably would have gone with aluminum skid set instead of the steel, but RCI’s product has given me nothing to complain about and it’s not a big deal either way whatsoever
2) regretting not putting screen protectors on the dash...
https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/threads/anyone-install-seat-covers.6303/ in my post on this thread you can see I have the hole cut out but it's slightly misaligned on one side. About 8 months later and I'm still loving them. It improves the quality of the cab tenfold, but I got a slight nick in...
Looks like there's darker lines going across, I see what the OP is talking about. It should be covered as a factory error and I think requesting a different truck makes the most sense if the dealership can offer it
