The 1.5” spacer in question goes on top of the strut (not in the coil) so it will not decrease suspension travel or limit flex and the ride will be exactly the same as stock. Spacers were not a great idea on the 3rd gen because the bump stops were frame mounted, now they’re integral to the...
Same issue here on my OR with wider wheels. I added some extra PPF but didn’t go high enough. You’ll probably want to go all the way up to the gas cap. I think the only way to solve the issue is with running boards or wide sliders. My rocker area is getting rashed up too. Initially I really...
OR checking in here. I upgraded wheels and tires and went with 285/70r17. My plan was to put winters on the stock wheels and the only 33” tire I could find for a 17” wheel was the Toyo GSI-6 also in 285/70r17. So if you end up grabbing a set of 17s you should still be able to find a 33” tire.
Some more action shots this week from a river bed which is pretty low flowing this time of year. Pretty easy trail overall with some places to have some fun. The main trail in was very rough with lots of potholes and fist sized rocks protruding from the hard pack. I aired down to 20 psi, and I...
I’ve my 3 boys in the back seat of the Tacoma for some couple hour camping trips and they were comfortable with no complaints. As a kid and teen my dad hauled me around all over the place in the back of an extended cab Chevy. It’s all I knew and I had a great time and many memories were made...
That’s normal for tow/haul mode on most any vehicle. The transmission will downshift sooner to take advantage of engine compression at higher rpm to help slow the load down as you come to a stop.
If you’re going through the effort of getting new wheels I don’t know why you wouldn’t go 285/70r17. It fits no problem on stock suspension even with that offset wheel. Here’s mine.
I’m trying to determine if different models might be higher in the front. Post what model you have and what your rake is (difference in height between front fender to ground and rear fender to ground)
I have a TRD OR on stock suspension and my rake is 2.0 inches.
Alberta checking in here. I also am big into snowboarding so I frequent the passes between Lake Louise and Kicking Horse mostly, and decided to go with a dedicated winter tire. I bought a second set of more aggressive wheels and tires for the summer but I ordered a set of Toyo Observe GSI-6 in...
I have Underground and when I googled the only one that came up was from www.scratcheshappen.ca
It worked very well, you can get primer, paint and clear coat from them and it comes with applicators.
That’s probably good advice. I really like the stock suspension and I’ve definitely put it through the paces (not abuse like Icon did, I watched the videos) and it’s proven to be very capable. I do have 33s on it though and I want a small lift just to make it not look so slammed and get a little...
Yeah I’m thinking of covering that whole area the next time I do it. I’m going to get some paper and try to cut into a shape that would work and then trace it onto a 12” PPF strip.
I did 6” on the bottom of the doors and everything was fine there. It’s not a super high danger area anyway. I’m just probably going to redo the fender area. I definitely got the worst area but still had some chips. The painted flares on the Pro are going to get beat to hell so you might want to...
