  1. DIY PPF

Edit: Link doesn’t appear to be working, but just search 4ā€ 3M PPF on Amazon and it should come up. I did a trip where I put on 300 km of gravel roads and I got some paint chips even above the strips I did. I did the bottom of the doors with PPF and turns out it’s easy and my confidence is...
  2. Q and A: 2024 Off-Road in Manual Transmission

Yes you might have to do that, and yes it does cause more wear. BUT, first gear 4LO is so low that you would have to be very steep in order for that to come into play. At that point, consider the clutch cancel start feature. If you had to feather the throttle while letting the clutch out a few...
  3. Explain it like I’m 5 - bump stops!

So this begs the question, is the ICON fix a good idea or not? I was very close to buying that Tacoma Garage top hat reinforcement that also gives a 1ā€ lift. But then it returns the force of a hard hit back solely on the strut to absorb. I can’t decide if omitting the frame mounted bumps is a...
  4. Finally here, TRD Off-Road 6MT

Love that truck man. I have the same one in Underground, wax really debating on Solar Octane though.
  5. Q and A: 2024 Off-Road in Manual Transmission

I have 5700+ km in my OR 6MT and have done some pretty gnarly off roading with it as well. 1. Rev hang, yeah it’s there, but I only notice it shifting 1-2 and 2-3. If you’re fine with slower shifts then it won’t bother you at all. It’s not a sports car. 2. iMT, I love it, but I’m lazy. I’m...
  6. Real-Life MPG Thread - Share Your 2024+ Tacoma 4th Gen's Gas Mileage! ⛽

6MT TRD Offroad here. I reset my fuel economy when I put on new wheels and tires. 285/70r17 Toyo RTs, a true 33ā€ tire weighing in at 60lbs apiece. Over 4000 km of highway, city, gravel and trail I’m averaging 13.1 L/100km which is 18.0 mpg.
  7. 6MT OR Does Eastern Slope of the Rockies

So I’m in Canada and have the rear locker in my truck with the manual. I was under the impression that all Off Road models have the locker, but I didn’t have the option for the sway-bar disconnect. Hopefully there will be some sort of manual disconnect on the market soon.
  8. 6MT OR Does Eastern Slope of the Rockies

I didn’t have the pleasure of owning a 3rd gen, but there’s plenty of low end torque with the 4th. Couple that with the very low gearing and it’s very competent in steep terrain, even with the manual.
  9. UNDERGROUND 2024 Tacoma Thread (4th Gen)

So it took me way longer than I’d hoped to get this truck off the pavement but finally did it this past week. I put over 300 km on gravel and about 15km on some technical OHV trails up a small mountain. Long story short, this truck is a beast in stock form, except for wheels and tires which...

  11. Body Side Moldings - how are they installed? Photos?

I definitely think the lower ones could serve some utility in protecting the rocker area from stones.
  12. DIY PPF

I highly recommend doing the rear fender. I did it myself and have never applied it before and it turned out great. Good enough that I bought a roll of 6ā€ stuff to do the bottom of the doors.
  13. Going from full size to 2024 Tacoma?

I am coming from an ā€˜09 GMC Sierra that I had for 11 years. Great truck, very reliable and did everything I needed it to. I used to pull our holiday trailer with it but our family kept growing so we bought a Suburban a few years ago and it gets all the towing now. Love the Suburban too. For my...
  14. Lug nut size and type?

I can confirm that the lugs for the 4th gen are M14x1.5 and the nuts are extended thread flat seat. If you are going with OEM wheels I would wait to order OEM lug nuts.
  15. TRD Lift Kit Info

I doubt it, that kit will be a big seller once it’s released.
  16. TRD Lift Kit Info

Ahh good catch, so maybe it isn’t 3ā€ like it the description says. All the influencers said it was a 2.5ā€ lift after ā€œtalkingā€ with engineers. That said, all the influencers said the PRO/Trailhunter lift was 2ā€, but in reality it’s only 1ā€ up front and 1/2ā€ in the rear. Honestly I wouldn’t be...
  17. TRD Lift Kit Info

Yeah, I’ve seen some trucks with 35s but I’d imagine they’re likely removing the crash plate.
  18. TRD Lift Kit Info

3ā€ front, 2ā€ rear. I bet 35s will fit on stock wheels without removing crash plate. https://www.toyota.com/racing/trd/part-detail?partId=PTCCY-35310&series=Tacoma&year=2024
  19. Do you Need TRD PRO? If you add 33" tires, would the PRO significantly outperform the OR in these tests?

With the same size tires I think the Pro’s approach/departure/breakover numbers would still be slightly better due to the 1ā€ front lift and 1/2ā€ rear lift. That said, this is the most capable OR model we have ever seen in stock form. I put 33s on mine, it has yet to hit the trails (two more...
  20. Paint imperfections- orange peel finish

I have some orange peel on my Underground OR. You can only notice it if it’s clean and you look really close. It’s not a show truck, I use it, and only wash my truck a couple times a month or after going on the trail. It still looks great walking up to it, even dirty. I’m going to use it, take...
