Since there had been no reply to your question, I’ll take an educated guess. The stock off road suspension has noticeable rake, this appears to be at least levelled, if not squatting slightly. I would guess there’s at least a 1.5” levelling kit. I have about 2.0-2.25” of rake on my OR depending...
Ok, so based on the specs of the stock shocks on the TRD Off Road model (46mm pistons, remote reservoirs) we have a pretty competent platform here. We also have some extra travel built-in due to the sway bar disconnect option (in the front anyway). In the past, spacer lifts have been looked...
I went up to the Toyo Open Country R/T which is a true 33.0” 285/70r17 in E load and I don’t notice much of a difference in ride than stock. MPGs took a bit of a hit, but I agree, this is the ideal size tire for this truck on stock suspension.
I’ve had my Off Road 6MT since mid April, here are some bullet points.
Pros:
-Ease of fitting larger tires. I have some true 33.0” 285/70r17 on a wider offset with stock suspension and plenty of room for articulation.
-4th gen off road suspension is superior to 3rd gen. 46mm shocks with piggy...
Unpopular opinion.
I’d think if you were doing fast desert running (which is what the pro is designed for) the iso seats would be awesome. If you don’t want the iso seats, chances are you don’t do much of that type of driving anyway. Why not save some money and go with a hybrid Off Road premium?
Yeah I find when going from 1 to 2, if I give it a bit of gas at the end of letting the clutch out it smooths it out quite a bit. I’m with you though, I don’t like doing that.
Yeah I ordered some touch up paint and some 4” 3M strips for that area. They needed to make the stock film about a foot higher. Should be fairly easy to add film to that area diy.
If the locker isn’t a deal breaker, what you’re losing by going with the SR, is the suspension. Specifically the coil spring rear suspension and the off road tailored Bilstein shocks. Sounds like you don’t NEED the upgrades of the Off Road model. That said I love my Off Road manual and the...
Just a comment here. I also considered your question about the CV angle at full droop on my Off Road. These trucks were designed with the sway bar disconnect in mind to increase droop further. My Off Road does not have the disconnect (not sure about yours) so I’ve reasoned that I can’t see a...
Hey Nick, great to have you here. How much smaller are we talking for the Trail Hunter too spacer? I have an Off Road model with 1.75 to 2” of rake. I don’t want to lift the rear at all, but would like to lift the front about 0.75-1.0 inches to take SOME of the rake out. When is it going to be...
I actually really like the Off-road suspension, I find it quite soft and that it absorbs bumps quite well. I haven’t hit anything hard enough to bottom it out yet though.
