Same for me. If I needed a back seat I would never have bought it, but I love my truck. Someone who needs a back seat needs to shop another rig, and probably not any Taco.
My 2024 Taco is one of the nicest trucks that I have ever driven or owned, so the endless complaining about them seems strange. Could they be better? Of course, but in today's world that is going to cost you!
I agree with @Lando that the non-halo trims need better interior materials and that...
It seems like there is something wrong with @vprftw90's truck. When my engine is cold I sometimes feel a slight shudder when the ICE first fires. But after that I can't feel anything, just the sound of the engine starting. One route into my neighborhood causes my truck to switch repeatedly from...
I agree - clickbait video here. Toyota reliability may have slipped a bit but they are still better than the competition. Ever since the 4th gen was introduced there's been a YouTube industry questioning these trucks. My Pro was hit hard in CCN's Unfortunate Truth Pro video, most which was...
I agree about online reviews, but there have been more issues with 4th gens than I expected, even on an all new truck. So I can see why Toyota quality is being questioned more now than ever before.
What bothers me more is how little we hear back from Toyota about what is going on. Maybe they...
So far I can't make this happen again, luckily. These transmission are definitely not consistent in how they work, so I guess that is not a surprise. I have shifts into reverse that are smooth as silk and ones that sound like high centering the transmission on a rock, but mostly it has been fine...
I agree, and I think that is the problem. At least in my truck the hybrid does not keep its 12v fully charged. Right now, even with regular driving it is only 12.1 volts, and that gives you a very small reserve. In two weeks mine goes to the dealer for service and I will let y'all know what they...
Sometimes mine is in the middle of that little battery, particularly when it first starts. But then it settles to left of the battery graphic and pretty much stays there.
I drove my truck a couple of hours this morning and now it is at 12.1 volts as usual. I have a service appointment in two...
Total BS on a 12 volt being fine at that charge level. If that is in spec how long do they expect a battery to live with a SOC below 12 volts?
Mine goes to the dealer in a couple of weeks and I expect to hear the same thing. The low charge is most likely what killed your battery, but at least...
Yep, my transmission has gotten smoother with more miles too. Most of the time my shifts are now super smooth, although I had harsh shifts in and out of first and second when it was new. Before I had 1k miles on my truck some shifts into reverse were incredibly rough, like something had broken...
It wasn't a problem for me to get the OEM tie downs off, although they are tight. Those tie downs secure our trucks during transport, so they need to be well attached. I used my 1/2" drive torque wrench to put the new ones on with 75 ft-lbs of torque with no problem.
Internet shopping is strange. When I go to McGrath Elmhurst the same part shows $123.90 and you show $119.70. I put it my cart and it changed to $134.43 before shipping and tax. It will be interesting to see what @tacorancher comes up with, although any of those prices beat the outright theft he...
My front tow hooks came from: https://autoparts.elmhursttoyota.com
The PN is: PT974-35250 and the price is $123.90.
They don't quote shipping though until you add ALL of your info, so you need to check. They are pretty heavy, so probably not cheap, but I never found my receipt.
You've got to love how when our vehicle break the dealers drive another truck to see if it is normal. Fingers crossed because maybe they are all F'd and we don't have to fix this one. Oh what a feeling!
It sucks to have this failure, but what really sucks is no loaner. More than one 4th gen has died suddenly but most people in that situation get something to drive. You might want to contact Toyota to see if your are owed a loaner and you just happen to have a really lame dealer.
