I agree with @Sagebrush, most break ins like that are kids looking for money, smokes, any loose valuables, not to steal your truck. It still sucks but I don't think you need to spend big bucks and go full tactical on disabling your truck.
That is what I am doing too. So far my puny battery still starts my truck and I have a jump pack in the glove box for when might not. I will report what my dealer says after it is there for service in a few weeks.
Looking forward to hearing how this turns out. It will be a good test of how much the JBL system can be improved with reasonably priced speakers and the original electronics still in place.
Yep. My truck will be going to the dealer in a few weeks for service and I will see what they will do.
Whenever I replace the battery I will put in a yellow top Optima AGM, but hopefully they will replace this one. If it only keeps it charged to 12.2 volts I don't expect a regular battery to...
My 12V is always at 12.2 volts or below. That seems to be pretty normal for the hybrids, but I don't understand why it won't eventually kill the battery keeping it at suck a low state of charge.
I agree. The emissions regulations don't matter at this time and Toyota will probably offer the manuals until the next full redesign. Another thing to think about is that the mechanicals were almost identical from the 2nd gen through the 3rd gen, so it might not even change when the 5th gens...
Although you can't actually order a Toyota product the document that outlines what options are available for every trim is called the "Vehicle Ordering Guide". I still have the one for 2024 and eventually there will be one for the 2026 model year, but probably much closer to when they start...
@james cole Mine stays where I left it and has for 11 months, but I have heard other complaints about it moving. Have you checked with your dealer about what is going on?
I hope that you are right! I know that some other issues with Toyotas has taken a long time for a resolution and maybe they will figure this out too.
2nd gen Tundras had problems with their air injection systems and that was not resolved for years. They did figure it out, but only after a lot...
Interesting thread @hadelson. I think the problem is having a heat exchanger instead of an actual transmission oil cooler. Both my 2nd gen Tacoma and my 2nd gen Tundra had real transmission oil coolers and they were fine. I think Toyota cheaped out with this setup and it is another thing we...
Thanks for that link @hadelson. My Tundra was older, with the 5.7L V8 and once the transmission fluid reached normal temp it never moved. It sounds like the problem started with the V6 engines in the newer Tundras.
That is what frustrates me. Things like this come up and either the dealers just...
I agree that this seems really odd. My Tundra transmission fluid never climbed like that no matter how hard the truck was working. I will add it to my list of stuff we don't understand about our 4th gens and that Toyota has not bothered to explain.
@mtbocoee Totally agree about those nasty spouts. It makes you wonder if the designers ever tired to actually use the damn things. I have spilled more gasoline using them than I ever did in the many years I have used normal spouts. Another example of government design by committee to protect the...
If you install the speakers I would love to hear what you think about them. To me the lack of a really good sound system is even more of a miss on your Limited, than on an off road focused trim.
My biggest concern about how well this might work is not the speakers, but the factory amp. It is...
Thanks. That is the hardest part of a project like this most of the time. I also want to add sound deadening mat. My truck is quiet but that makes a huge difference and was something I did on my 2nd gen Taco too.
Yeah, that is what I think too. I put in a Beat Sonic amp and it definitely helped, but it is now more like a nice basic audio system, and hardly premium. The whole sound system was designed to be cheap and I guess they hit that target. But to really make it great you would have to start with a...
That rear toe clearly looks wrong, and that would affect how your truck drives. It might be OK if they could get the two sides a lot closer. The rear thrust angle might not be adjustable, but that just means the truck was not built right. I have not had an alignment but my truck tracks fine...
