The full time 4WD is standard on the new Land Cruiser, which tells me it is very capable on and off road. The reviews for that system in low traction situations are all very positive. That makes me wonder if they will transition other hybrids from part time 4WD to full time eventually.
@Sagebrush After learning that the tailgate is aluminum I decided to check if there were more aluminum body panels I didn't know about. I knew that the hood was, but that was all I was aware of. It turns out that the rear fenders are aluminum also, so the entire bed is either aluminum or...
OK - I obviously did not know that the tailgates were aluminum. Interesting...
There is so much negative garbage about the 4th gen out there that one reported tailgate theft could easily be turned into a crime wave. I had a buddy who's Nissan pickup tailgate was stolen almost 30 ago, so this is...
I have not heard of any problems caused by this amp. They have made them for just about every Toyota product produced for some time, so I think we would have heard about that by now.
It is easily removed if there is a problem. Take it out, plug back in the factory connectors and they would...
I don't think the 4th gens have aluminum tailgates. People have been stealing tailgates since trucks were invented, so it is not just a 4th gen thing. They are usually stolen to replace a damaged tailgate, which can happen pretty easily.
I find that just locking the tailgate keeps me safe...
Even worse my salesman told me about a couple of times when it wasn't just incomplete, but flat out wrong. That is why my dealer doesn't try to pin things down exactly, because they don't trust the information that they get from Toyota.
I just installed a Beat Sonic amp this week. It made the sound better, and actually seemed to improve the lame sound field in the JBL system. But was no miracle and some day I will spring for a complete redo, but for now it is better than it was.
The front door speakers are setup to provide...
I owned black cars for over 30 years, and I know a lot about keeping them in top shape. Griots correcting and perfecting creams were my best friends.
The interior of my car is totally quiet, but not all Pros are. Some people have rattles from the seats, with no fix from Toyota yet. But everything is tight and buttoned down inside my truck.
Cool - I have been thinking of giving that a try and wondering how well it works.
I used carnauba wax for years, but Griots ceramic is easier to apply provides a great shine and makes keeping you vehicles clean incredibly easy.
My Pro suspension is set to the middle setting and the ride suits me really well. It is firm and controlled but I never find it to be harsh at all. I have one softer setting to try, like @Wighty is using, but it is smooth enough that I haven't gotten around to it yet.
It rides and handles like...
@EastonTaco I am a long time Griots user too, and they have never let me down. I have used everything from their compounds to keep a 30 year old black car's finish perfect to most of their finishes. I never tried ceramic until theirs and now I use it and their ceramic quick detailer exclusively...
I agree @saerandy.
If you change out the wheels and tires on your truck beyond what comes from the factory I don't think even the wider flares would be enough. They barely cover the OEM tread on my truck. There are good aftermarket choices out there to consider for trucks with even more poke.
@Rick97 It sounds like you are fine, I just meant spraying water on your truck when temps are well below freezing, and the spray freezes on your truck. At 8c you should be fine. I never tried wax at such a low temp, but maybe someone else has.
I don't have specifics regarding increased poke or wider than stock tires or wheels with different offsets. I think the narrower flaps would only work for trucks with relatively narrow tires from the factory. I attached two pictures comparing US stock versus the Canadian flaps on my Pro...
I put ceramic on in the fall, which keeps it pretty clean even after driving in the rain.
When it gets driven in road salt I spray it off top to bottom at a car wash. I do the same thing when it gets muddy on trails.
Yeah - that makes sense, because the motor starts the truck moving when you let off the brake and before the engine starts. So that is probably the cause. But I have never noticed that at all in my Pro and it is strange that different trucks behave differently. I will test that exact situation...
