  1. pulling the trigger tomorrow.

Your truck looks great @Whiskerfish. Love the Blue Crush, which is the color I have seen the least out on the road where I live.
  2. Windows won't go down on cold mornings

@Sagebrush Good point - it is probably either a component failure or an assembly error. My windows all work fine too. Still needs a TSB so dealers can fix these people's trucks IMO.
  3. Windows won't go down on cold mornings

Wow - that does sound like a design flaw. I have lived in some very cold places and never had my windows not function no matter how cold it was. My other trucks would even break loose from some light icing, although I don't recommend that. That's a pretty big flaw in a go anywhere, anytime truck...
  4. What is this light on the headliner?

I agree that it would be nice to be able to turn this off in a truck made for off roading. Maybe someone will post a digital design for a simple 3D printable cover. In more brightly lit driving environments I like the little extra light it provides. Some vehicles today have ambient lighting...
  5. Windows won't go down on cold mornings

Your windows and tailgate should operate normally in any temperatures we see in North America, including in Alaska and Canada where 4th gens are sold. So yes, take it to your dealer. You might want to document it with some video too, since dealers are famous for their can't replicate behavior...
  6. Why 35 PSI

I think it is to cut down on customer complaints. If they set the tire pressure to what is on the door jamb, and then temps drop and people get low pressure warnings, they whine. So I have found that most dealerships for a lot of brands routinely overinflate your tires.
  7. First prob ON TrailHunter 1497 miles

According to the owner's manual the fog lights only work when either the parking lights or headlights (low beams only) are on. That is how all of my other Toyotas have worked also.
  8. Seat Clunk TRD PRO

Good info @YourOnlineHero - you have certainly touched every base on this. My seats make a click if I push back on the upper seat and sometimes rattle on rough roads. If they were as bad as yours are I would be all over this too. I guess making Toyota aware that this is a problem might lead to...
  9. Shudder coming to stop - transmission death or normal?

It could be the transition from regen braking to regular braking, although Toyota normally does this better than anyone else in their hybrids. I have driven several Toyota hybrids but I have never owned one before either. It can be very noticeable in some brands and generates a lot of...
  10. Seat Clunk TRD PRO

These seats are strange. Mine started out quiet, made noises for a while and now have gone silent again. I think mine only made noise when I had them in the off road setting and stopped when I switched them back to the on road setting. Has anyone experimented with that? It will be interesting...
  11. Describe your transmission behavior.

Yep - the transmission is the only thing I don't like about my truck too @radbrad. I get some rough shifts and some terrible shifts, but just randomly, so I can't demonstrate it for my dealer. Some shifts into reverse sound like the transmission exploded. I can't believe that Toyota is ignoring...
  12. Aftermarket Driver Side A-PIllar Grab Handle for 4th Gen?

Yeah - same thing for me too. It isn't really in the right place for a grab handle for getting into the truck. My wife sometimes uses the A pillar one and sometimes the one above the window, but neither are really in the right place.
  13. First oil change at 840 miles with filter cut open (LOTS of debris!)

Yep - 10k miles is crazy on a new engine, particularly a tightly wound turbo 4 banger. I have been thinking that my 1,200 miles is too soon, but maybe I should rethink that one.
  14. All vehicle settings were reset??

Just about three months with my truck now and I don't think my app has expired, although I don't often use it. But something made a bunch of my settings change and an update is my top suspect.
  15. Describe your transmission behavior.

Yeah - I feel the need to explain when I say I liked the 2nd and 3rd gens because many, many people hated the seating position. My height, torso/leg length or whatever always made them fit me just fine.
  16. Describe your transmission behavior.

Most of my bad shifts are subtle and not something a passenger would notice. My wife asked me to point one out because it seemed fine to her. That wasn't the case for the shifts into reverse - she asked what the hell just happened. If I had gotten out of truck and found transmission parts on the...
  17. Describe your transmission behavior.

If I end up trading in my truck a Tacoma is still a top pick for me, but it would have to be a manual. I have also thought about a 3rd gen since the strange seating position wasn't much of a problem for me.
  18. Describe your transmission behavior.

@TacoWill I forgot that one - I get the rumble strip thing from time to time as well. When it is not doing one of its bad things, it is smooth as silk. That just makes it more noticeable when it shifts like an old truck with a couple hundred thousand miles. I would be interested in hearing what...
  19. Describe your transmission behavior.

Most of my Toyotas have been manuals, but this is my third automatic. I had a 2nd gen Tacoma and a 2nd gen Tundra with automatics and neither one ever shifted badly. Except for the engine sound change, shifts in my Tundra were imperceptible. From my current perspective I can see that I should...
