From what I can tell people with this complaint have trucks that behave a lot differently than mine. Most of them have probably been driving automatics their whole lives, so I really don't think it is driver error.
My ICE never restarts until I release the brake and apply some pressure on the...
I knew a guy that called that the short circuit between the truck and the road.
Seriously though, I trust what people post about this, but why would theoretically identical trucks behave so differently? My truck just feels like every other automatic that I have ever driven, so something is...
I think this is temporary fix for our trucks sometimes detecting a trailer that is not really there. Software is never really done and Toyota's needs some updates which are no doubt coming one of these days.
Where I live the rule is to flag a load that extends four feet or more beyond the body of the vehicle, and I think this is less than that. Is it less than that in Maine? Four feet has been the rule everywhere I have lived.
People around here wouldn't see the flag anyway, unless it showed up...
I just got home from driving at speeds of 30 mph or less and it did 20.6 mpg in Sport mode. A new record!
Oh yeah - no wierd creep in my truck at all - just behaves like any automatic. Strange that trucks with identical drivetrains behave so differently.
It is definitely a larger turning radius than I expected on this truck. It is an improvement over my Tundra which was terrible in this respect, but not as much as I hoped. My first attempt at a U-turn resulted in a three point turn, which was a surprise.
Yeah - that is a good question. I wonder if the dealers know or if they will just punt like they often do. It is definitely something to get sorted out before it needs cleaned.
It is a special cleaning procedure and kind of a PITA, so it would be good to know the answer to your question. I also...
That is interesting and the first time I have heard about this. I don't see anything like that in my truck, at least so far. When I am stopped the ICE is usually off, so creeping would have to come from the hybrid motor. AFAIK the hybrid system can only charge when the ICE is running or the...
Just resetting the code should be enough. If the problem is still there the truck will throw the code again, and if taking the air filter off fixes the problem no codes will get set.
I agree - put the OEM back on and if it still throws codes the dealer will have to do something. If not you have your diagnosis, but I doubt that the air filter is causing this problem.
I don't think it is the air filter - lots of us have been putting those on Tacomas for a long time without any problems. Sounds like either a bad airflow sensor or connector. Either way it should throw a code that even a lame dealer can read. Plus this sounds like your have a really bad dealer...
Ethanol is bad for your fuel system in multiple ways, and I prefer the least amount of it that I can get. It is definitely bad for vehicles that sit for any period of time.
@32spoke - I think that you are correct - aviation fuel does have lead and would be a very bad idea to put it in your Tacoma.
