Not sure of the number, but many times that. On the other hand not every failure results in a NHTSA complaint. So a failure rate is hard to determine, but is no doubt fairly small. I'm sure Toyota knows but I'm also sure they won't tell us.
So I understand that the chances of my truck dying...
Yeah - this is definitely not over. With more transmission failures outside of the initial TSB VIN range now we might finally be headed toward a recall. Of course Toyota has to figure out what the hell is going on. Obviously it is more than just a few torque converters which were not...
It was an assembly problem in Guanajuato (3TY). The evaporator box is attached to the front crash bar. The mounting points were not where they should be, because the crash bar was out of spec. When the part is screwed into place the stress cracks the evaporator.
According to Toyota this...
@jman1818 Has your dealer given you a loaner while you wait for the repair? If they have, and you still want the truck I would wait it out. But if no loaner and Toyota doesn't help you with that, I would consider lemon lawing it if it goes on long enough.
Let us know what happens and good luck.
Your dealership should read the Taco forums because I have been reading about this for months. I guess it shows you how on top of things most dealers are.
NIce truck @dknelson and it sounds like you got a good deal. Enjoy!
I agree that the 2.4 L turbo is a nice engine and a big improvement over the V6 I had in a 2nd gen Taco. I am not really worried about engine durability. It isn't like Toyota hasn't made millions of 4 bangers and they are...
I love the look of the hood scoop on the 4th gen. It isn't functional, but then most vehicles today have all sorts of aero bits that are just for looks. How many rear diffusers or wings actually do anything useful?
The scoop on my 2nd gen wasn't functional but I always liked how it looked, just...
Thanks @Goriders. Yeah - I'm still trying to figure this one out, and it is strange that it worked perfectly for the first three weeks and now it doesn't. Strange.
I have a slightly different problem with my iPhone not always connecting (not with remote start) and not always staying connected. It was fine for the first three weeks and now it is flaky as hell.
I can connect to my iPhone with "Hey Toyota" "Connect to iPhone". That also works to launch Car...
Yeah, the graphics are strange, but the navigation is excellent. I used Google maps for years, but it has misdirected me too many times and I switched to Apple maps, which has improved a lot over time.
The very first time I saw a 4th gen on the road it was a SO Off-Road driving in full sun. I finally understood the name because it was shining like the sun and looked amazing.
@FirstTimeTruckBuyer Thanks! Terra was my first and only choice and I was super lucky that one was allocated to the dealer where I had a deposit. I just got it back from getting PPF and that really makes the color pop - it looks even better than when it was delivered.
I get HUD nav prompts in my truck when using Apple maps on my iPhone. I still haven't sorted out the various settings and I haven't changed anything. I haven't tried it with Google maps, because lately I have found Apple maps to be more accurate.
Now if I could figure out how to keep my...
South East is terrible about that and so is Gulf States. I am lucky to be the Central Atlantic region, which is much better. My only port options were door edge guards and tailgate letters, which I have already removed, so only $99 for something I didn't want.
@FirstTimeTruckBuyer Your SO Taco...
Yeah - I had some good underseat storage in my Tundra and I used that a lot. I am missing that but knew it going in. For me that was an acceptable trade for what a perfect (to me) truck it is.
I haven't noticed the seats doing much either, but I have less than 500 miles on it and it hasn't been...
I was planning on only putting PPF where your truck has it, but I have read posts about chips and scratches on the sides and tailgate. When I dropped it off for PPF Monday we talked about what parts we should do and there are no good break points on the sides. I also wanted to do the tailgate so...
I like those sliders @Romer - I bought the RCI sliders, but these look a bit nicer to me. Really like the RCI skid plate, although I will most likely keep the TRD one on my Pro. I might have to consider the rest of the RCI set one of these days. I agree about liking how they tucked things up...
