@Norsk Yep - all valid points, and the Colorado was the only other truck I seriously considered. Both trucks have some issues, but that seems to just be how things are in the automotive world today.
Like I said in my first post to this thread, I don't think @MustardTiger could go wrong with...
An interesting analysis @Norsk. I don't hate the Chevy, but I too have compared it with the Tacoma and came to a very different decision.
Putting aside the many issues with the Colorado, here is what Car and Driver concluded when comparing a ZR2 to a 4th gen TRD Off-Road...
Unless they are installing some other flaps at the factory @Rock Hopper, @HBNARO will get the same lame flaps that we all did. At the least Toyota should owe us the $60 we wasted when we trusted them to put on something that works when Toyota built our trucks.
Check out this thread for a good discussion of the RCI sliders:
https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/threads/rci-rock-sliders-installed.6472/
Some early ones had one mounting hole which was not in the right place. Feedback from buyers to RCI lead them to a fix, and mine fit perfectly. They listen to...
No they are not steps. But the 5 degree sliders can do that as well as giving you great underbody protection. They made a world of difference for my wife when getting into my truck.
Plus they are extremely solid, nicely finished and well made. RCI is great to deal with and IMO makes superior...
@MustardTiger I agree with the other posts and I would go with the Tacoma also. I shopped the Colorado but it just didn't match up with what I wanted, and it has more issues than the 4th gen does. I just wanted to give you some space to explore your other options on your own.
Car and Driver...
I looked at all of the most popular choices and picked the RCI sliders. I needed a small step for my wife to comfortably get into my truck and RCI sliders provide that. They give good protection for the frame, from thrown rocks and in a parking lot, while looking good too. My choice was also...
I had the same problem with tire shine on my Terra Tacoma. Luckily it didn't show as much on the darker color, but I could not clean it off with quick detailer. A good quality ceramic with polish did the job for my truck's paint.
I won't ever be putting tire dressing on my tires - I don't even...
Go with your gut @MustardTiger. They are both nice trucks and I bet you would end up being happy with either one.
There was a time when I would have said to go with the Toyota for reliability and resale value, but I don't know that is a given at this point. I love my truck and I love Toyotas...
Cool - I love my Terra Pro, and I think it is an amazing color.
If you bought the OEM mud flaps you might want to check out some to the threads here on the forum. They are tiny and only cover part of the tire. Many owners of trucks with smaller tires are upgrading to aftermarket mud flaps and...
I agree - they look good and cover a lot more or the tire than the OEM ones, even though that is not saying a lot. lol I am also considering ARK mudflaps if they become available soon.
Yeah - I wondered about how those would fit on a TH or Pro, since I had only seen them on trucks with narrower tires.
So those don't look like the answer for us - the search for the wider ones continues.
Toyota was always very consistent about controls, which was great when switching between vehicles. I guess the tech is changing so fast that consistency is out the window.
The logic seems reversed to me too, but it is easy to deal with. Just toggle the auto high beans on and off with the switch...
I am just back from a couple hours in my Pro, and my truck has no roughness at any speed. It is as smooth around 40 as it is everywhere else.
So I think the trucks that are doing this need to go to the dealer for diagnostics and hopefully a repair. Whether it is, the transmission, wheels, or...
