How does your truck act on very icy roads ?
does the automatic breaking even work well enough to stop a slide ?

Now I grew up driving in Anchorage AK
And well know about black ice , ice fog on winter roads
but I'm retired in NorCal bay area now so not experienced with the new tech & icy roads

Driving in Colorado for a winter (SR) where they don’t treat the roads, it will not take into consideration potentially icy roads for the safety-sense. It gives you a warning when the temperature dips under 37°f that “Roads May Be Icy”, but there’s not a super noticeable change for me in the auto braking. It will of course use the anti-lock brakes any time it feels a slip, and traction control to direct the car forward, but don't put too much faith in the auto-braking. Especially in poor conditions. Ice/snow can also accumulate on the radar and render the safety-sense non-functional and will trigger an alert

I have a question regarding the Safety Sense System.

Whenever I drive thru a particular area of town to go home, I would often get a red warning alert on my "cluster speedometer" that reads Pre-Collision Warning. The truck would often brake as to prevent me from hitting something or someone. But the thing is...there's nothing in front, on the side or behind me when this happens.

Is this similar to Tesla's map of detecting unknown entities (like seeing ghosts in cemeteries when there's absolutely nothing ahead)?

My experience in the middle of Idaho is that the system works as well as expected. You still have to drive the vehicle, slow down, etc. It isn't going to react to the rear end breaking loose.
