I’m a 17” person.
More sidewall for the same size tire diameter is better for a truck. 17s have more tire options and are generally cheaper..

the only real reasons to go bigger wheels is for bigger brakes and/or better on road performance in dry conditions. But sacrifices ride quality, increases likelihood of wheel damage and may cause faster suspension component wear.

Liking the OE 18s, getting to the goods is 98% pavement. Don’t air down that much, OE carcass, rides fine, hoping I wear them down for sand on a Baja trip, straight to Costco for 3 peaks after that…

Looking at BFG's, a 295 70 18 (34.3") weighs 74lbs and costs $428
35" x 12.5 17 (34.5") is 75lbs and costs $429 at tire rack.

Find the exact tire size you want and use the rim that matches. There's some pizza cutters I was looking at but they only came in 17's and didnt want to spend another grand on rims when the 18's are fine.
