Anyone know what could be the issue here? Noise seems to be more prevalent the longer I drive, so heat may play a factor. Noticed it on a road trip just the other weekend.

It’s currently been at the dealership for a week but they can’t figure out the cause after replacing the belt. Toyota headquarters is about to step in. Any thoughts as to what it could be?

I have something similar but much quieter. Did you figure out the problem?

If the noise is still there with the belt off, its not the belt or any accessory....
Been a ford engine tech for 32 years, ide start there along with stethscoping the engine trying to isolate the noise.
You may have an idiot tech, seems simple enough!!!!
Take belt off, if noise is still there, its internal engine....

There is a concern on these for just a quick chirp from the ac compressor during cold start, but thats not what you have...
Sounds like its ready to implode, cant imagine they cant find that....
Could be anything, thats where the mechanics stethoscope comes into play.

What scares me about toyota, I think everyone is bumper to bumper.
So theyre not good at anything, they cant fine tune their skill set.
All I did was engine work, coolant / oil leaks, overheat concerns, exhaust work, manual transmission work, broken bolts, didnt matter who broke them, they all came to me....

I suspected it was an idiot tech or they simply chose not to identify it. I went for a drive with a guy from the service department and even though the noise was very minimal on the short drive he claimed that he couldn't hear it.

Came here to say what slater already did, something like this should be fairly easy to narrow down using a stethoscope and removing the belt.
