Toyota gave us factory AUX switches in the 2024 Tacoma, but figuring out how to actually wire them up isn’t super clear. We put together a quick how-to video showing how to tap into the OEM wiring safely, without cutting into anything.

This is for trucks with the built-in AUX panel (usually part of the Tow Package). If you’re looking to run ditch lights, a bed compressor, or any 12V gear using those switches, this walk-through shows where the wires are, how to connect, and what you need.

What we cover in the video:

  • Locating the AUX relay/fuse block under the hood
  • Identifying AUX 1–6 outputs
  • What connectors and fuses are needed
  • Best practices for clean routing and safe connections
If you're adding lighting or overland gear next, check out Cali Raised LED for Tacoma-specific gear like hidden light bars, bed racks, and trail-proven switch solutions.

Let us know if this helped—or if you have questions we didn’t cover in the video.

That’s great. What about wiring of your switches to replace the oem aux switch? I would like to replace my aux switches with some of your laser etched options.

Good to see the new video out... But, without me having to watch it yet, is it completely plug and play with my aux wire harnesses yet or do I still need to splice? As soon as it's plug and play I'll order my ditch light kit.

Thank you for your interest and feedback! To clarify, it's technically 50/50. The kit is designed to plug directly into the auxiliary switches, so you won’t need to connect it to the battery or use an additional wiring harness. However, you will still need to splice or create a connection between the light and the open wire from the plug that controls Aux 1, 2, or 3. Unfortunately, due to the nature of auxiliary switches, a 100% plug-and-play solution isn’t likely, but we've worked to make the process as straightforward as possible. Let us know if you have any other questions

Anyone know how to get into the switches in the center console?
I believe the panel around the shift lever just pops up but not sure I want to start prying it up without some input from others.

I'll have to take a look at this when I'm home and can actually listen to it.

Can't remember how I wired them up but I remember the last time I was messing with my pigtail for the AUX buttons I noticed I had three wires coming from the ditch lights, one wired to ground, one wired to aux 1 and one wired to aux 2 for whatever reason.

Anyways I remember that one of the wires I unplugged, wether it was aux 1 or 2, ended up being completely useless so I just left it unplugged.

Had me scratching my head until I threw my hands in the air and said whatever, don't fix what isn't broken lol

I put a caliraised switch there just for looks. There is an extra connector in there so I connected it and it lights up but does nothing. I am planning on routing my fang lights to that switch in the center console as soon as I get a part in.

does the part around the shifter just pop up?
I’m trying to figure out how to get to the back of those switches in the console

You have to go to the corner of the console and pop it up. There are clips on each corner. And if you want to completely remove it the shift knob does come off with a small metal pin you push to the right and a connector for the dial that needs to be unclipped.

We need an update to these switches to match the newer white lighting of the OEM Tundra and Tacoma Interior. I hope maybe someone is working on that somewhere in the industry?

The older blue light doesn't jive well at night. it's harsh and distracting on the dash.

And the glossy black plastic finish looks off when installed next to the true OEM switches which have a more matte plastic sheen.

I know I am a stickler for the small stuff.
