As much as I love my truck, and have had no major issues at all, I've had some minor things that are annoying, warranties, things I don't lilke and oversights. Here's mine, and was curious who else noticed the same things, or share your other observations...

Mine: 2025 Trailhunter in Bronze Oxide, 6000mi

Warranty items:
  1. Tailgate "handle" plastic trim doesn't snap completely on, so pops partially off when washing the truck
  2. Front driver bed scene light got water in it from power washing it during the first wash. Still there.
  3. Protective film on Rigid fog lights peeling and flaking off

1776102961723-7e.webp

1776102984746-4s.webp

Minor Issues / Things I don't like:

  1. The dash is so freakin shiny I can barely see ahead of me if the sun is anywhere above and in front of me because it reflects on the windshield, even if it's spotless
  2. If it's under freezing, the dash shrinks and the JBL speaker gets play and vibrates super annoyingly to the point where I just pop it out.
  3. The wireless charger doesn't reliably stay charging and keeps going on and off, making my phone chime each time it connects
  4. The plastic cover over the gauge cluster is tilted up, so therefore collects a shit ton of dust, and if you blow on it you scratch it. It needs to be angled down and there wouldn't be any issues, and would align with the trim curves better anyway.
  5. My GF has a physical disability with her hip and needs a real handle, not that rock climbing hold on the passenger door side to get in.
  6. My remote fob works a 1/4 mile away, but the auto start sequence doesn't? I can't remote start my car with the fob from in my house, I have to use the app, which is so irritating.
  7. Current MPG when trying to hyper mile it is 17.7mpg, nowhere near what I was expecting from a stock setup as advertised
  8. My phone connects automatically to Android Auto 50% of the time. I have to go and turn it on in devices manually
  9. Looks like on the plastic fenders that I've been trailing this thing through briar patches for years, but it's only seen pavement and farms. The plastic is so soft even bugs scratch it at high speed.

Things I love:.......Absolutely everything else.

The peeling of rigid fog lights is common issue with the Pro owners.

I upgraded from stock to Cali raise fog lights. No peeling. Still functional like new. :)

If you haven't, I recommend the Screen Protech kit with the matte infotainment piece. That dash plastic was so soft i was worried cleaning it would scratch it. I ordered it with the backup set. But i also have an 80% ceramic windshield tint. Cluster feels okay to read, never has been too shiny for me. I did it more to help during San Diego Summers and parking in the sun, in conjunction with the folding sun block, it's great.

i've given up on the wireless charger entirely because my phone case is a quadlock case for motorcycle mounts and instead just got a 3 foot coiled USB-C-C plug with one of the plugs at a 90% angle.

The last is I've seen fake Amazon predator steps that can attach on and off with the OEM rockrails for people that need the step, I think someone on this forum has it and has said they just remove it when going off roading, but keep it on for their wife so she can climb in and out easier. It's not a grab handle, but might assist with getting in and out.

I did order the screen and surface protector kit a few weeks ago, just gotta go do it....

The steps I took care of in another thread, and after 5 months is still just awesome how perfect they are. Lowest profile of all, as easy as it gets DIY. https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/thre...on-2025-tacoma-trailhunter.17633/#post-218815
It's the grab handle... she needs to hook the right hand into a grab handle, not reach across with the left... actually try to use it, it just really doesn't work for someone that actually needs it.

The dash is so freakin shiny I can barely see ahead of me if the sun is anywhere above and in front of me because it reflects on the windshield, even if it's spotless

In 23,000 miles, I've never noticed that.

If it's under freezing, the dash shrinks and the JBL speaker gets play and vibrates super annoyingly to the point where I just pop it out.

I live in the middle of Idaho, and my dash hasn't shrunk and caused the speaker to rattle when it's cold. Are you sure it's clicked in?

The wireless charger doesn't reliably stay charging and keeps going on and off, making my phone chime each time it connects

My iPhone doesn't disengage from the Qi charger–but I 3d printed a locater. Perhaps that's your issue or it's your Android.

The plastic cover over the gauge cluster is tilted up, so therefore collects a shit ton of dust, and if you blow on it you scratch it. It needs to be angled down and there wouldn't be any issues, and would align with the trim curves better anyway.

What? You blow the dust off and it scratches the finish? Give me a break. I clean my truck out with an air compressor about once a month. None of the trim is scratched.

My GF has a physical disability with her hip and needs a real handle, not that rock climbing hold on the passenger door side to get in.

I'm sorry to hear that.

My remote fob works a 1/4 mile away, but the auto start sequence doesn't? I can't remote start my car with the fob from in my house, I have to use the app, which is so irritating.

Your FOB functions a 1/4 mile away? I've got a fish story, and it's a helluva tale, but I'll not bore you with it. I gave up on the FOB for starting and use the app. It works great.

Current MPG when trying to hyper mile it is 17.7mpg, nowhere near what I was expecting from a stock setup as advertised

I have no idea what "hper mile" is, but I get 23-24 MPG on the highway, and in the middle of Idaho, it's not flat.

My phone connects automatically to Android Auto 50% of the time. I have to go and turn it on in devices manually

My iPhone has disconnected, perhaps twice since August 2024. Perhaps it's your Android?

Looks like on the plastic fenders that I've been trailing this thing through briar patches for years, but it's only seen pavement and farms. The plastic is so soft even bugs scratch it at high speed.

Bugs are scratching the fenders? That tops my fish story.

This was much kinder and more entertaining than what I typed out and deleted 😂 This thread is Tesla owner behavior.

I don't really have the same issues, and actually prefer the hard plastic vs soft touch for long term durability. But that's not why I'm chiming in, mainly I just need an answer to a question about one specific detail you mentioned:

  1. My remote fob works a 1/4 mile away, but the auto start sequence doesn't? I can't remote start my car with the fob from in my house, I have to use the app, which is so irritating.
How exactly did you manage to get that kind of range from your fob? If I have a direct line of sight, and no obstacles, I've got to be inside the effective range of a mouse fart for my truck to respond to the FOB. If I'm 20ft away and look at my truck wrong it doesn't unlock.

I am totally a fanboy lol but I was more thinking along the lines of: It's absolutely insane what middle class people will complain about these days, especially when people around them can't even put food on their tables or pay their power bills. I mean, I've got neighbors living in tents, in the mud and you're bitching about BUGS scratching your fenders 🤣 But I take it back. Sorry. OP's first world problems and big feelings are valid. Here's a virtual hug 🥰 I hope you feel better.

The Android Auto thing happens to me too. I just manually connect it before I take off and enjoy my day.

Main complaint is and will always be on a 50k+ vehicle, no sear position memory. I'm 5'10 and my wife is 5'0. With the 3 mirrors and all the seat positioning, at least 1 seat position memory would have been nice.
My 2021 Outback has up to 4 position saves and uses facial scan, greets you and automatically adjusts the mirrors and seat. I don't need all that just a single button would be nice.

Nice to know there's someone who is more OCD about their truck than I am.
I will agree with you, my non hybrid
( was, key word ) getting about the same mileage before I started modifying it.
Here's the rule of thumb on gas mileage and weight.
If you kit your truck out to go overlanding, or change the aerodynamic in any way, 17mpg would be like winning the lottery.
Currently, my truck with all my gear loaded to go play weighs in at a whopping 2000 lbs over stock.
I'll let you do the math for mpg's. I knew what I was getting myself into when I started building a Toy.

Thanks for the hug brother!

But no really, the key fob sucks either way, but at least I can lock my car from in the house. To get the auto start from the keyfob to work I have to be within RFID tag range, not radio range it would seem, which completely defeats the purpose as we all know.

For the phone, it certainly can be the phone, but it's a Google Pixel, and you'd think it would work ok. Apple does seem to work better. Granted, I've yet to see an OEM car one work well for anyone at all...

Given that the truck went through a new england winter, it's probably rocks and other debris being kicked up vs bugs. It's ABS like anyone else's unpainted ABS, so I'm sure there's nothing to be done but add some purposeful trail scratches. That girl's got hips though lol, love it.

For context, been a Subie owner since '04 with an STi and had WRX, Outbacks and last a Crosstrek Wilderness. Their paint in general is very thin, so we'll see how the yoda taco does. I wish I could afford ppf on the whole thing, but just no.

Happy to be a part of the new community, and sure I'm having some honeymoon sparkle since it's my first truck ever and I do love it. Got in on a proper trail last night and was just silly fun. I did walk it with pruners first :D
