4-LO High RPM's. Am I missing something?

That's the beauty of the manual. I've been in 6th gear in 4LO and it does just fine and tops out at a pretty low top speed (4.30 rear end on the manuals). I like having a mechanical linkage to my gearbox that a computer can't override. Apparently you can also bump start the 4th gen down a hill in 6th gear.

I found it strange at first? Now I prefer the behavior especially when conditions get spicy. I prefer the late up shifting vs early!

I do agree that the engine braking is really effective, especially in low traction environments, but all Toyota's I've wheeled off-road before have been better at choosing just how much engine braking you can have on tap. The tacoma just gives it all, then randomly upshifts when it wants. I'm just looking for more consistency haha.
