It's below freezing here and it just lightly snowed and I have a couple of questions. First, if a parking sensor is blocked (in this case by melted ice forming a ribbon down across the sensor) is there any solution to the two error screens that keep popping up and flashing every 30 seconds? I've hit the "back button" to dismiss 20 times but it keeps reappearing. Second, I was in a parking space next to a car and was parked on sort of a pillow of snow if that makes sense. When I pulled in, I was in 4 x 2 but then as I was backing out stuff had frozen and the rear tires lost traction, and the back of the truck started to slide towards car next to me. Literally stopped about 6 inches away. I put it in park, waited, half a second, put it to neutral and then rotated the knob to put it into four low. The only thing that happened was four high kept flashing, and it never went into four low. I thought it would have? They're literally was no way to get it into any type of four-wheel-drive without moving. I don't think that's normal?? I know that it does work in 4H if I'm driving and shift over with the knob as long as I'm moving, but at a dead stop, even in neutral it doesn't want to go into for high or for low. Is this normal behavior?

If my truck is covered in ice... The only way to get it to go away that I've found is to turn off parking assist... Not sure of 4low but 4hi it always takes longer to activate if I'm not moving maybe you have to take your foot off the brake when in neutral for 4low?

For 4L you need to successfully be in 4H first. After that you put your foot on the brake, trans to N, selector to 4L. Wait for the dash indicator to switch, put trans in desired gear.

To switch from 4L to 4H: foot on brake, trans to N, selector to 4H. Wait for the dash indicator to switch, trans to desired gear.

OK. That’s the problem then. When I started to slip sideways I stopped and shifted over to 4H. It kept flashing and in my experience I usually have to be moving for it to actually go into 4H. Maybe I just wasn’t patient enough? Anyway then I figured since I have to be moving I might as well try 4L so I went ahead and went into neutral and moved it to a 4L but never got beyond the flashing 4H. Am I just being impatient for 4H to kick in?

4H will usually need wheel rotation for the splines to catch, only if you're very lucky will they be lined-up enough when sitting still. Rarely, you can slowly swing the steering from lock to lock and they'll engage. Regardless that, it does take a handful of seconds to get into/out of 4H.
