Auto start stop Feature

Has anyone discovered a work around for the 2026 Tacoma Hybrid. Shitting off a hot engine every time a person stops can’t be good for a hot engine with turbo charger.

Wouldn’t that defeat one of the reasons for a hybrid? I doubt the start/stop is harmful. Toyota hybrids have been like this for over 25 years

I don't think it is possible to change the start/stop behaviour with the hybrids. It is an integral part of how the drivetrain works and as @Klokow said, all Toyota hybrids have worked that way for years without any problems that I know of.

Lots of hybrids have electric oil pumps. This allows the oil to circulate with the engine off. I'm not sure if that's the case on the iforce tho.

Actually, shutting off a hot engine all the time absolutely is bad for the turbo. Toyota obviously agrees, which is why they disabled it in tow haul mode. Which is when the turbo would be at its hottest anyway.

While I would lean towards purposely inducing a proper cool down before engine shut-off generally, Toyota has considered this and has made some decisions you might want to be aware of or consider yourself. The T24A-FTS engine in the 4th gen Tacoma engine diagram shows an auxiliary electric water pump in addition to the main engine water pump. This aux electric water pump (part number 161B0-47010) is in the turbocharger and intercooler loop. While I can't guarantee if and for how long, according to AI, this electric pump typically can run after engine shut off for 5-20 minutes. There is also thermosiphon cooling as well, which applies to most watercooled turbochargers; completely passive. Not telling anyone what to do or how to care for their vehicles, but something to be aware of in case you weren't.
