Auxiliary fuel tank vent fitting?

Got an issue I would like some input on.
Just purchased a 2026 Tacoma and of course it came with the standard 18g fuel tank.
No larger tank available as off now.

So..

I decided to get some molle panel and mount it to the front section of the rear bed area.
I then purchased a plastic 30L fuel cell with a fill and vent fittings factory installed on one end.
I want to mount it horizontaly having the fill spout at the top and of course the vent closed completely on the bottom.
So far so good.

I put about 6.5 gallons of fuel in it and no worry's until I noticed the tank a bit expanded due to being in the sun so I bled off the pressure, making a mess in the process, and then realized I need to have a separate vent fitting at the opposite end of the fill spout and always leave it cracked a bit to equalize pressure but not leak fuel when driving around.

I see a lot of "offroad" fuel cells and they don't even have a vent fitting ay all.

Can anybody recommend a vent fitting that can be retrofitted to an existing tank and have the ability to be open enough to relieve pressure and lot leak fuel when driving around.

Kinda already have an idea on what Im going to do just dont want to reinvent the wheel if I dont need to.

Not sure where you got the idea fuel cells ain't got a vent. All fuel tanks gotta have one. Not just for expansion, but also to allow air to enter and displace fuel. Ever seen a fuel tank when the onboard evap systems fail shut? Looks like a giant hand reached up there and crushed it like a soda can. That's why most of the newer gas cans suck, they lack a vent meaning it has to allow air to pass through the nozzle giving that glug sound.

Reguardless, there are various ways to go about it. Not sure what you have for a fill cap, but sometimes those themselves are a vent cap with a built in check valve. Alternatively if the wall thickness of the tank is thick enough you can drill and tap it. Industrial gearboxes are common to use a standard pipe plug with a tiny hole drilled in, like 1/8" or smaller. If your worried about that spilling you can use a fitting with a 1/4" nipple then attach a short piece of hose and a little inline check valve from Amazon. Plenty of options out there.

Here is a quick pic of the 30L fuel cell after I removed it from my truck.

Because I will be mounting the tank horizontally I can’t use the vent on the bottom under the fill area. So I am going to drill and mount a fitting along the top. As I am not planning to remove the tank and will use a syphon hose to transfer gas into my main tank when needed.
I will probably install a small piece of tubing on the fitting so I can leave it in the open position to vent all the time and not have to do it every day as the manufacturer recommends.

"All fuel cells have a vent".. please.......just look up rotoplex the primary supplier of fuel cells for offroad storage and 90% of them do NOT have a vent fitting.
Just got the fittings today and will post up a pic tomorrow of my install with the vent fitting installed.
Mine will be permanently mounted to the truck bed and will not be needed to be removable to fill my primary tank so maybe a different situation as far as filling/refueling for other situations.

I like the tone, you clearly have no idea what a fuel cells is. Yes all fuel cells have a vent, those are gas cans. As I stated gas cans don't necessarily have one. Just because you spend a frankly absurd amount of money on your gas can, doesn't make it not a gas can.

Just as I can go to Walmart and buy a bicycle, and you can buy one from a boutique store. They'll both serve the same purpose, but my "bike" from Walmart cost 1/100th of the cost. Except unlike your "bike" it won't require wearing shorts that makes everyone question your sexuality, and whether it's cold in here.

Well I got the fitting I ordered and installed it into the "fuel cell" aka gas cans, fuel jugs, gas storage container.
So I transferred the fuel that was in the "cell" to my truck and then drilled a small hole and installed the fitting, pretty simple.
The fitting came with a cap but since I want it to vent constantly I stuck on a small length of tubing to allow it to equalize all the time and have a small bolt I can thread into the tubing if I want to remove the "cell" and no gas will spill out.

Mr. Bill I dropped less than $100 for the tank, mounts and locks which for what I wanted to do isn't "an absurd amount of dough".
Do me a favor and keep your condescending comments to yourself.
I posted up a question on here wanting some positive input on a solution not to be talked down to.

Not too bad. May want to consider sealing around it with some type of caulking that won't disintegrate with gas to ensure it doesn't leak around that.

That Vent fitting has a rubber o-ring on the inside and the outside as well as a cup washer and then gets tightened down with the nut.
Supposedly the o-rings are compatable with being used for fuel.
