Correct. But that thread mentions the other company. It doesn't appear to be the same tactic. Just the typical cheap Amazon junk. I just saw "sponsor" and thought nothing of it
Yea I think @maxx075 was just referring to those cheap Amazon companies in general, but this company blatantly mislead people here and is manipulating Amazon reviews.
You're probably totally fine with what you ordered !

Totally fine with the order, but not the product that will probably turn to dust in a few weeks...LOL.

That's definitely shitty on for them to be so deceptive. Thanks for the heads-up. It might help others.

I don't know why this thread ⬅ isn't showing up on the homepage when we post in it, but everyone should read it and be cautious with this Forum Sponsor. Very shady tactics and practices. And a fairly low quality product.
I ordered their frame end caps on Amazon and I’m super happy with them. So much so I’d tell anyone with a 4G Tacoma to order them.

You can do whatever you want 🇺🇸 but any company who knowingly deceives our forum members and manipulates Amazon reviews in violation of their terms isn't getting any of my business

🤷🏻‍♂️okay. I simply don’t understand how they deceived members. they sent you a set to review for free, you didn’t like them. Others may. I would only buy step rails from a reputable manufacture, but in the case of the frame end covers, $15.00 and I’d pay $20 for them.

I'm not going to rewrite what @Will721 already detailed in the post linked above. You can check it out if you're interested, decide if you think it's deceptive, and you can support whatever company you choose to support.

Read it, still don’t get it. They were transparent, buy them, review them, we’ll refund the price. Pretty transparent, do it or not, or ask more questions, I wouldn’t have done it. He even noted it’s a somewhat cautionary tale.

anyway that’s the way most of these Amazon Chinese companies work. I’ve been offered the same from Muslogy, I declined. Anyway, is what it is.

@Sner

I did this at the same time as @Will721 but got the company to send them to me a different way. So I'm just sharing my experience as well.

I guess my issue is that they said they would be giving running boards away to some forum members (they have since deleted that thread) but they weren't actually just "hooking us up". Instead they are running a scheme to circumvent Amazon reviews guidelines. Essentially "buying" 5 star reviews by refunding running board purchases

My biggest issue is that after I got their shitty product and left an honest review, they continued to email, and lie, and make up ridiculous stories to try and get me to take my review down or alter it to 5 stars.

Here are some more bullshit emails from them (minus the messages I gave my word I wouldn't share when they first reached out to me). All in regards to not giving them a 5 star review on Amazon after they asked for an honest review.

You think their service rep resigned because of the pressure my 3 star Amazon review put on them ? Or that they will overhaul the entire product line because of my 3 star Amazon review ? Just absolute 💩

@TacoBirdinNW this is all textbook, this is what companies do. You got into it. There’s nothing illegal, it’s what they do, buy reviews, thousands of companies do it, that’s why some car reviewers say they were compensated by the manufacturer for their review (flights, meals etc) , or that their review was subject to approval before posting. This is no different - just a different product.

ever notice on car reviews you rarely hear a scathing review? It’s because reviewer has been compensated, and review was subject to approval. Car reviewers sign disclosure agreements to that effect before being invited to review a car.

personally I just think you are naive, get with the times, tens of thousands of companies operate like this - especially on Amazon.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, but personally, I just think you are an unintelligent boomer and you're failing to see what's going on here.

It violates Amazon's terms (confirmed). It's deceptive. And both the company and it's products are trash.

However, this is America, and you can choose to support whatever scheming overseas company you choose to support.

And we can agree to disagree and continue on driving our bad ass Tacomas knowing we both think the other is an idiot.

Sure, I’m not a boomer (gen x if you must know), I can say that much. unintelligent, not sure I’m going to stoop describing you, just naïve. We can agree to disagree. I’ve given concrete examples in the world on bigger ticket products where the same practice happens, an industry I know very well how car manufacturers compensate reviewers, but won’t go into that.

sorry you got yourself into an exercise you know nothing about and then feel you got burned and that you think their practice is uncommon When in reality it is very common - for all products whether you want to believe it or not.
