Bummed for you, man! I smile everytime I walk out to my truck; it looks so damn good. I get in the driver's seat and it starts right up every single time. Heater is hot. A/C is cold. BANGIN' rockford fosgate sub. 21mpg on the highway. Quiet as an EV at 65mph. Comfy as heck. Gas stations EVERYWHERE down here with not just gas, but delicious snacks. Did I mention how good it looks ?

Get yourself something you like in case you draw a crappy hand and get hit with a random widow maker one day. Don't want to be floating up to heaven cursing your hunk of S#*t Tacoma.
I went and added sound deadening to the front doors and it was a game changer. Still have the rest of the cab to do, but I have no regrets. Find myself constantly finding excuses to hop in and go for a drive, hit some trails, or just stand around and stare at her. 16mpg on streets and 18-20mpg on highway. Drives like a complete dream, esp the TRD Off Road being coil rear vs leaf springs now. Engine has more than enough power/torque esp compared to the 3rd gen. No car is going to be perfect and the pros definitely outweigh the cons of this truck.

Pathetic quality and poor engineering is what I see here! Since I drive some gravel...now I'll have to check this for dust entry. And here I thought it was only Dodge that couldn't design proper cab vents...Toyota says hold my beer!...we'll integrate it directly into the subwoofer! Ugh...who tf designed this??

Overall, the more I live with this new Tacoma...the more disappointed I am. Quality is totally sub par (especially to older Toyota's), fuel economy is simply ATROCIOUS, the remote start via fob and app is outright laughable...such a joke, and the infotainment routinely disconnects carplay while driving, switches on it's own between sat radio and carplay, and refuses to connect to my phone most days, especially if you use remote start.

These days...I REALLY miss my 2nd gen Tundra...
Sorry to hear you're unhappy with your truck. I have some thoughts on what you posted that I'll share below...

"fuel economy is simply ATROCIOUS" <- It's definitely not great, but it depends on how big your tires are and how heavy your right foot is.
"the remote start via fob and app is outright laughable" <- I agree, it's generally terrible.
"the infotainment routinely disconnects carplay while driving, switches on it's own between sat radio and carplay, and refuses to connect to my phone most days, especially if you use remote start." <- I have not had this issue. CarPlay has been rock solid for me and I use it every day. Maybe it's something specific to your vehicle or phone.

It sucks to pay so much for something and then to have a bad experience with it. I hope it gets better for you.

Heck yea, same!
I got coils on the SR5 too. Can't wait to see what the Bilsteins feel (and look) like next week.

Just imagine him over at RamForumz if he bought a 1500

We got one Ram 1500 (DT - 5th gen) in the family...and while overall it has been mostly reliable, the biggest issue is dust in the cab when driving gravel/dirt roads, which is over 50% of it's use. It's something that existed in the 4th gen (DS) ram trucks and actually this newer generation is even worse. It has something to do with the design of the rear cab vents and air movement between the box and cab; I've had it all apart, back seat out, replaced the vents, checked door seals, etc...nothing eliminates it. The seats get a coating of road dust after a couple trips. Another issue with the 5th gen ram is where they install the rear proximity sensors. On higher trim trucks, it's an additional plastic trim piece attached under the rear bumper...if you drive gravel roads...they will get destroyed (and the wiring harness) by stone trow from the tires; mudflaps don't help. Anyways, I'm not new to trucks...it's all I've ever drove. I own 3 myself...2 of which are diesel HD's, and then the Taco.

I was just playin' man. I'm just giving you a hard time because people are out here living off of beans and running out of food stamps and you're bent out of shape about your CarPlay in your $75K truck 😂

I’m glad I get decent fuel mileage. Have had zero issues and think I got what I paid for. Even the audio is good.

Behind the subwoofer is an opening that vents directly out between the cab and the bed of the truck.
You weren’t kidding. Gunna clean this up a bit. Thanks for pointing it out. 🤝
