There is no pawl in the 2024 Tacoma. The Parking "brake" is just a motor that compresses the rear brake pads against the rotor. Big black plastic housing in the photo, below.

Got it. I thought he might be referring to the parking brake handle pawl that you had on the old cable systems. I didn’t think of the AT pawl at all.a parking pawl is not part of the brakes. It’s in the transmission and all automatics have it. To that point, do I worry about a parking pawl failing or wearing out - never! Should the automatic parking brake be used at all times - Yes
logic of using a parking brake to save a pawl in the transmission is absolute nonsense. Using a parking brake to maintain your brake system is what makes sense.
The manual is your friend.I have a 2024 off road not sure where this emergency brake button is located
Same here. I was not aware of the auto setting. I've just been manually operating it.I somehow deactivated brake accidentally and this helped to reactivate. Thanks bruv
my truck doesn’t have those buttons. Thank youThe manual is your friend.

Do you have the manual transmission?I do not want to turn off the parking brake just asking where the button was to turn it off. I read in the post there was a button, my truck doesn’t have one, I looked.
my truck doesn’t have those buttons. Thank you
I do look it up in the manual and could not find it
