15% on the front, 35% on the rear. There was a measured like 2% difference I believe afterwards.

OEM glass on the rear measured just shy of 30% before hand iirc.

Thanks, I'm wondering how 20% effects night driving?
I had 20% on my Gen 3 for a while. My wife didn't like it from the start. I took it off when I started doing more driving after dark. 35 worked just fine for the next 90K miles.

When I had my tints done, i had the shop meter all windows before installing the film, then meter them afterwards.

VLT% of glass before install + VLT% of film itself = VLT% after tint installed [all values have a +/- 3% error of margin]
  • Windshield [3M Crystalline 60]: 71% + 60% = 42.6%
    • I know it's not everyones cup of tea, but I personally like Crystalline for the windshield only because, from the outside>in, it gives a reflective blue\purple\green sheen. Similar to [though not as good as] Jaguar\Land Rover's factory Inferred Windshield. The reflective nature of this film provides privacy without going too dark.
    • Note: from the inside out, there is no color\hue , it's perfectly clear.
  • Front Door Windows [XPEL XR-Black 20]: 86% + 20% = 17.2%
    • This is my favorite tint make and model for the doors & back glass. Good heat rejection with minimal ceramic haze and true black film
    • Front door after install meters slightly lower than the rear. But this is fine because the front windshield allows light in causing the fronts to look lighter had it metered the exact same as the rear.
  • Rear Door and back privacy Windows [XPEL XR-Plus 70]: 30% + 68% = 20.4%
    • typically i don't like XR Plus because these have a blue hue, but oddly the Xpel Plus 70 had a black color while the XR 70 had blue.

Have the same truck. Was thinking about going 5% all around with 30% front windshield. Do you think that will be too dark? Your truck looks great!

Per recommendation from my tint guy I’ve been using for almost 20 years, I went with 15% on my front windows and couldn’t be happier. It looks perfect!

Just had mine done yesterday and went 20% in the front and 35% in the back. This was the installer‘s recommendation to make the front’s better match the back privacy glass.

Not as bad as 5% would be. It was a cloudy day. Here it is with some sunshine through the windshield.

Tinted my entire front windshield with 30%, love......
Started with 50% & ended up ripping it off & going darker....
I have an upper 6" brow also but cant even see it from the outside looking in, so ide not bother with that.
The brow looked better on the 50% option, more of a contrasts variance.

Appreciate the reply! Im gonna try 30% hope it is not too dark during the winter in Colorado. Don’t want to be white knuckling it every time I drive in sketchy conditions.

My eyes suck.....
All the shops out in San Diego try & cover their asses & recommend 50% so customers dont cry to them after the darker recc....
I did 50% on my 24 taco, regretted it, re-did it with 30%, think it's actually 35% ceramic. None of the shops out here have 30% ceramic,
Pointless to not do ceramic, the UV & heat properties are superior.
Did 50% on the kids ranger, thinking lets play it safe & go lighter since hes a new driver...
We both hate it, & will eventually re-do it.....
He drives my truck all the time & his eyes are better than mine.

Just need to get him on the road solo first, get things stable, give it some time for my heart to get back into my chest first...
He gets his license on the 11th....
