Has anybody had experience with Territory MT tires and ride quality/rubbing from stock? I know people love their Wildpeaks and KO3’s, but was looking at something under $1k for a set installed that look aggressive. Anyone have real world experience? Or experience in that larger tire size on stock wheels?

Thanks!

I don't have experience with that particular tire but I did put that size on recently (275/70R18 Nitto Terra Grappler G3) with no problem! TRD Sport wheels. With a 3rd gen Taco, you'd probably have to add a small level or lift to fit these size tires but the 4th gen has such a large wheel well rubbing isn't an issue.

I have bridgestone a/t dueler 275/70 r18 on a limited, no issues, stock suspension. I had oem wheels, then upgraded to fuel 18x9 +20 offset. No humming at highway speed. Check weight of what tire you want. E rated tires are usually heavy and you'll loose 2 mpg.

That's a newer tire, and I'd guess that 90% of the owners have them as the OEM tires on their 6th Gen Bronco. They don't have a great reputation but that might be caused by OEM tire owner biases.

Cons:
  • It's a budget tire.
  • It's not 3PMS.
  • It's a lower end Goodyear so it has the typical weak Goodyear sidewall ("Durawall" is marketing BS).
Pros:
  • I personally like the tread pattern - it could work okay in certain conditions.
  • It's available in C-rated carcasses which is perfect for Tacomas.
  • It's cheap.
My overall opinion:
  • It could be a decent tire for driving on gravel/dirt roads, light snow, or sand.
  • It will falter in heavy snow.
  • The sidewalls will puncture on any sharp rocks or stabby sticks (I've seen plenty of Duratracs suffer this exact fate).
  • Actual mileage and wear is unknown so far, since it's pretty new.
Whatever you do...

Don't buy used or "like new" OEM takeoff tires, since most OEM tires are not the same as aftermarket tires even in the same size. This has been discussed in another thread I posted on recently. OEM tires are often lighter weight, lower tread, different rubber compound, and overall lower performing. They are engineered for NVH and MPG.
