Research is currently showing that the 2024 vehicles require the use of Global Techstream+ (GTS+) software and do not support the desktop based Techstream platform. Comments from head tech at dealership further support this.
It appears that there are two very trusted ODB cables for use with GTS+: Tactrix Openport 2 and Mongoose MFC3 Toyota (not to be confused with the non-toyota spec options).
Tactrix appears to run about $170-$200 depending on the store, but also looks to have a ton of knockoffs??? (Constant listings in the $30-50 range)
Drew Technologies Mongoose runs $560-$700 with the lowest Toyota one being $490.
Please, only those with direct experience and knowledge, what's the real difference? Speed? Certain abilities not able to be access with one over the other?
I know that the Mongoose is the officially supported cable from Toyota's perspective, but does that mean that Tactrix doesn't work with GTS+?
If this hobbyist's goals are limited to getting at the dealer only settings for the 2024, what is needed and what is simply overkill and wasted money?
All of the above then builds on that it appears that GTS+ can be downloaded by anyone and then a temporary subscription activated for $70 for a week (versus ~$2k for a year)?
