Has anyone successfully tinted the taillights? Please share!

I am interested in tinting the taillights on my taco. I ordered the taillight tint kit from Bogar tech design and was able to install. However, the tint comes as two separate pieces of film for each taillight (4 total pieces). I figured it was to make it easier to install.

So I get it all installed on one taillight and the two pieces of film overlap each other. You only notice this when the taillight is lit up and there is clearly a darker line right in the middle. It irritated me so I quickly tore it off and dont have pictures to share. Honestly felt like a waste of $50. I inquired with my local tint shop but they no longer offer the service because police have written tickets for smoked taillights. Im not going for anything super dark, I just want them to be less glaringly red.

I am curious what others out there have done. Please share pics if you have em. Thanks!

As easily totaled as these trucks are in a rear end collision, I would want my taillights to be brighter. Not darker...

I really don't think tinting tail lights is a good idea for rear end visibility. If you really don't like them, a few brands make replacement tail lights. Alpharex is one of them.

My unsolicited opinion- Tinted taillights suck. I know it's not A E S T H E T I C, but sometimes it can be nearly impossible for folks behind you to tell when you're braking or indicating a turn during the daytime if the sun is at the right angle. Don't be the tinted taillight guy.

But if you must be the tinted taillight guy, I've seen some use a light coating of spray Plasti Dip "smoke" to tint theirs.

Mine are tinted I had a car wrap company do it let me see if I can find a photo. Personally I like it. I’ve went with a black out theme

Nothing like wanting to tint your tail lights so they work less.

That looks good right there, seems like they would be plenty visible still when on the brakes.

That looks good right there, seems like they would be plenty visible still when on the brakes.

The shop had several different shades and I definitely went with one I could see the brake lights. Also you have the upper brake light above the center window. Do you, who cares what everyone else thinks.
