26 Sport, underground is the color. It’s on the hood. Going to contact the dealer tomorrow. Anyone have a similar issue like this. At first it was like a perfect bubble, I sort of picked at it, as at first I thought it was like sap or something. That’s when it cracked the clear coat It seems.

Hoping they just say it’s warranty. The truck only has 2500 miles on it. Worst case I guess I’ll have to go through my insurance, I believe I have a one time vanishing deductible with Nationwide.

Interesting bubble... definitely under the clear coat. From what I see I would have to say that you have a good case for a "materials and workmanship" claim. Bummer

I have an appointment with the dealer this afternoon. Maybe I'll get a whole new hood.
Can’t imagine Toyota denying this claim under warranty. Dealership maybe? That’s about as clear of a paint defect as you can get.

Do yourself a favor and find a Toyota certified body repair shop near you before you go to the dealer. That way you can tell them where you are going to take it. Rather than the other way around.

I wished I hadn't picked at it as it was a perfect bubble. I'll let you all know what they say this afternoon. I'll fight it out but worse case I guess I'd have to go through my insurance.

I bring the car in and they take pictures of the whole car inside and out. The service advisor looks at it and says he’s never seen anything like that, there must have been some dust or water that got underneath during the painting process.

Tells me it’s going to be warranty but it’s going to the body shop, assures me I will be 100% satisfied with the repair. Since it’s warranty they’re going to also comp me a rental.

As I’m filling out the rental agreement, the advisor comes back and says you’re not going to be needing that. Apparently the service manager looked at it and upon his inspection determined it’s tree sap!

They cleaned it up with some bug and tar remover! Good as new…..

I don’t feel that stupid, I hope this thread helps someone else. I’m thinking about maybe some paint protection film or ceramic coating. Any thoughts?

Good news on two fronts...your initial assessment of tree sap was correct and the dealer was right on the money with their assessment and corrective action. I bought my Toyota based on their reputation for quality and reliability...this situation reinforces my feelings about the brand. Good luck...

This thing literally looks just like tree sap lol. Anyway, false alarm!
