Almost drives one to simply buy a TRD OR to not get all that fancy crap. I actually don't need Adaptive Cruise because I am old fashioned and keep my eyes on the road. Don't need ABS brakes either or lane departure or blind spot monitoring etc. Heard the TH is a bear with all the sensor warnings. Probably why a 25 TH is for sale near me listed at $72k CDN down from list of $87K CDN with only 2000kms on it.
Fyi I get all the same warnings on my OR. All the trucks to my knowledge has the radar sensor in the same spot reguardless of submodel or packages.

I have an SR and it has all the same sensors as the TRD OR. Only differences are in the option packages of which I still have none...
The funny part is that it's probably not intentional. Someone maybe tested this, saw the error didn't go away, sent the Software Team Lead a question:

"Hey should this sensor error permanently clear after the use dismisses it once? It's pretty annoying and distracting to the driver"

"Just leave it as is"

https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/en/#iso:std:iso:26262:-1:ed-2:v1:en

Read a sample of ISO 26262 and I can't find any specific text that says the error should be repeated *until* safe state is exited, only that it has to be displayed once. It's also good to know ISO 26262 isn't legally required, and manufactures follow it as a means to test stuff like TSS

Oh so they could have made the trucks better by not repeating the warnings and they didn't anyways, very cool!
I guess it's just part of the truck that it flashes the warnings like this, maybe someone will make a "ECU hack" to disable them flashing repeatedly? Does this already exist? I did the Carista seatbelt chime delete already which has made moving the truck around in the driveway much better.

lol ^

Did some more reading on this and ISO 21448 covers weather, and mentions that the driver must be notified until the system has exited fail state, but it could be via warning lamp or a message the driver can dismiss (since it is not a permanent fail state, like crashing the truck and destroying the sensor would be).

Seems like Toyota was just covering their ass on this one. If someone dismissed the error, forgot that the sensor was blocked (despite the single warning light, like a CEL), someone could maybe make a case against them.

Evidently (still awaiting delivery to prove it) the Carista EVO app can disable the warnings.

I have the Carista app currently and have used it on other vehicles with success (seatbelt chime, etc.)

No freaking way, I will go try this in a bit and get back to you!

I paid $30 for a year of Carista back in December because a month was $15, so maybe this will work to clear the issue!

Put a piece of paper over the radar or whatever to simulate snow and give it a test... let us know how it goes!

Upon doing some research it appears that the settings might only be changeable with the EVO scanner, I have a Veepeak and I'm not sure the app gives you all the options your screenshot is claiming.

Did you order an EVO scan tool and when does it arrive? Please let me know how using it goes!

I've got the Carista EVO... but not the truck, yet... (arrives in April supposedly).

I've disabled the chimes on a friend's buddy's truck (2025 TRD ORP)... but I didn't go any further on it.

I'll go out and play with it in a bit but I'm not sure it can be disabled with even the EVO tool.

Update on this, I had no such options to disable those warnings. If your fancy Carista evo obd scanner does please let me know and I'll try to borrow one from somebody

Found this thread and wanted to say I recently brought this up to Toyota at my 25k service. They told me the only way to stop the constant warnings was to disable it or pull over and clean sensors. I asked how being forced to drive with my hand and forearm across the wheel so that I couldn’t see and be distracted by the warnings was a good thing, but they had no answers.

Anyway, looking forward to news on the Evo thing and will be following this thread. After this, my major remaining complaint iworh the truck’s systems is that Carplay refuses to let any music app show me more than a dozen or so entries unless the vehicle is stopped. If this is the lawyers’ doing, give me a screen to sign and accept a waiver and be done with it.
