Hi all, Jimmy here sharing another mod project on my '24 Xtracab SR5. This week, it's using RCI Offroad's 4-door sliders on an Xtracab.

I live in the Denver metro area, RCI is local to me and also a sponsor of our Rocky Mountain Toyota RoundUp event in Ouray each July. I bought these sliders and -- with RCI's knowledge -- confirmed that they can fit the Xtracab with some modification, that I did myself with an angle grinder. RCI does not plan to offer these sliders as a direct bolt-on due to the low production count on the Xtracabs, but if enough of you express an interest (call Tim @ RCI) they may do a batch. I asked how many it would take and they didn't provide a number.

First, what everybody wants to see, the finished result:

What I didn't know before starting this project: that except for the location of the rear body mount being farther forward, that the xtracab frame seems identical to the 4-door frame with leaf springs (SR5 and below?). Wheelbase and overall length also appear to be the same, which likely helps Toyota manufacture these frames more cheaply than if the wheelbase and length were shorter.

Because of these similarities, the 4-door sliders align well and have good fitment at the front and rear of the truck.

I got the sliders as close as possible to the existing mount holes to verify alignment, front half (driver side):

And rear half:

Having marked the cut line above after the last viable bolt location, I proceeded to remove the back part of the slider mounts:

And they bolted right up into what you see in the first photo above. Here's a rear quarter shot:

This undeniably reduces the weight holding ability at the rear of the slider. I do not plan to offroad this truck, however I do plan on having a friend with a welder re-use the 4th mounting point to bolt to one of those alternate mounting points identified above. Once that's done I plan on priming / rustoleum for the shiny parts. I'll share those photos in this thread when done.

Would I rather buy an engineered and fully powder-coated solution? Absolutely! In the absence of anyone offering that, this is as good as I can do.

Happy to answer questions! - Jimmy

As a fellow xtracab owner, thank you for this write-up with pictures! Your truck looks great.

Nothing the matter with that. We also have a 25 4Runner and I did this. Needed a chop saw, some two inch plastic caps, and four riv-nuts installed.

I love your build. The color, combined with the wheel / tire upgrade, and the sport bar with an access cab. I find your taste impeccable. I know this wouldn't sell well, or else Toyota would have offered it, but this configuration as a TRD Off Road with the option of a manual would be so sick. I would buy one if it existed. Now I have to go tell my double cab 6MT TRD OR that I still love it very much and that this doesn't mean anything.

Sticker on my truck -- Xtracab SR5 4x4 + Cold Weather package, as loaded of an Xtracab as I'm aware of -- was $44K. My buddy bought a TRD Offroad 4x4 without the cold weather package also for $44K. So yeah, the price delta isn't big enough to justify buying the 2-door. And with the wheelbase and overall length being identical to the 4-door, there's no technical advantage to the 2-door either. Except that my 6-foot bed has an extra foot for a rooftop tent. The kid who buys this truck from me in 20 years will appreciate that lol

I help run a large offroading event in Colorado each year, we have a bunch of the Toyota corporate folks that attend. I make a point every day of parking this truck at the front door of Event HQ so they all walk past it. IF we get a factory spec like this in a few years, you can bet I'm going to take credit for it :-D
