Looking for some clarity on OEM skid plate fitment. Searching Toyota’s sites is frustrating, and the Hybrid vs. Non-Hybrid info isn’t always clear.

I have the transmission plate P/N PT228-35244, which I bought before hybrids even started showing up on lots. It’s meant to go with the TH front plate. The problem is that I have a TRD Pro front plate mounted on a Limited Hybrid. There are a few threads about this, but not enough solid information (in my opinion) to make me confident I’ll order the right plate. The Hybrid vs. Non-Hybrid difference just adds to the uncertainty.

EDIT: I do not believe the TRD Pro's have the plate as standard so what would you use in that scenario if you wanted the transmission plate.

In case your wondering, this is not a vanity addition. Along with the front plate , It's a layer of protection from New England winters. Lessons learned from my Tundra.

That said, can anyone point me in the right direction.

I can't give you a definitive answer, but doesn't the hybrid engine not have a starter or perhaps an alternator?

I can't see how a TH skid plate would interfere with something that isn't there. I put a TH plate on my gas OR, and it's the real deal, unlike a lot of the aftermarket plates that are going to get beaten to death by an impact.

I do not have an alternator and never confirmed if I have an actual starter.

The issue is the the TH plates go together to form one long plate. The transmission plate has hooks to attach to the front plate.

The TH transmission plate is too short when used with the PRO front plate and also has no front attachment points. I've seen threads on this site showing a PRO plate with an OEM transmission plate but the information and photos are not that great.

I realistically do not want to buy another front plate as I like the PRO plate.

I have tried it. It's too short and doesn't marry up to the front plate.

I've reviewed the link you posted before. In post #19 someone asks to see how the two match up to each other but he OP never responded. That's also what I'm looking for.

Here are some links. This site has some Oem items. I would check with them to make sure that you get the correct length. There’s the 5’ and 6’ versions. I learned this the hard way. Fortunately I was able to return it and get the correct one. I have the engine and transmission plates on mine. Got them early on. So information was limited when I was looking. I actually got the engine one off eBay. I tried looking for my receipt info for the part #Number but couldn’t find it. Hope this helps.

I just ordered PT228-35247 through Amazon. At least I can return it if turns out not to fit. Price wise it was the same as ordering through dealer. Amazon price is just a combined cost+shipping from the same dealer.

Looks good. I like the “Toyota” version better than the “Trailhunter” version. I don’t have the rear skid yet. Maybe I’ll get that one farther down the road.

Looks great Turnermier! I also bought the LC skid plate and had to get the front cross member as some members noted since mine is just the SR5 so doesn’t have that front mounting point. Just need to find the time to install them!

I put the Miller Cat MCX skid plate on my TRD OR. It’s a heavy piece for sure. I wanted the access panels for oil drain and filter. That said, I had two holes (the middle two, or the back ones on the larger front plate that connect to the support piece) and they were not aligned. I tried a bunch of ways with all the bolts loose to get them close enough and it wasn’t possible, so I drilled/reamed them out to get the little bit of clearance I needed. Frustrating. But not the end of the world.
