Locks for Recovery Boards

I just picked up a set of recovery boards and mounted them to my roof rack. I was wondering if anyone had any good recommedations for locks. I'm not sure what is the best way to lock them down.

If you're worried about theft I'd start by closing the garage door.

Maybe a stainless steel cable w/some crimps and a TSA lock. Just an enough to deter, make a thief’s attempt a PITA. If they’re nice & cost more than $150 take em off until you head out on trail.

I'm surprised the mount you purchased wasn't machined for a lock, most of them are.

I'm assuming your mount is comprised of two plates mounted to your roof rack with threaded posts and a thumbscrew to secure the boards to the mount.

If I were you, I'd just borrow the same design as most of the other board mounts. Drill a hole through one of the posts that the boards mount to, and throw a lock through the hole, which will lock the thumbscrew and prevent removal until the lock is removed.

Oh I'm sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. The mount does have a hole for a lock. I'm just curious what people out there are using. Also, I was a bit confused about how to mount the plates to the t-track on my roof rack. If anyone has pics on how they tightened down their mount to the t-track, that'd be helpful. My current approach is to slide the hex bolt and washer into the t-slots with the mounting plate sitting sitting on the t-track. The problem I'm running into is how to tighten down that hex bolt while it's sitting in the slot

Ah, now I'm following you. For mine, I just throw a single master lock through one of the holes in the post. I don't bother with the other 3 locking posts. I suppose that's kind of lame, but I just wasn't that concerned with theft. I've got cooler stuff to worry about theft-proofing, plus mine have been through the ringer. Godspeed to whoever takes them, ha.

As for mounting, I'm assuming your roof rack didn't include extra hardware for the T-slots? My rack came with a bag full of fasteners very similar to these one's from Grainger, and they've worked great for securing stuff to the rack.

I use a combination lock that goes through the stud on the.Recovery board mount
