Not the fanciest or most exciting review out there but, its worth its own thread. I received a Sundhade from Mabett to review, but they have not paid me in anyway and I'm going to give my honest opinion here.
First off, I'd never spend money on a sunshade. Atleast, I wouldn't have in the past. I used to work in autoparts at one point. I've bought just about every other accessory and gimmick out there. But sunshade have never really been one. I bought and immediately returned a couple in the past, typically because they fit like crap and are annoying to use. Typically it involves parking your car and just sitting there dicking around just to end up with this:
Even the custom fit ones usually suck. If I find it, I'll post a Pic another member posted of a Coverking one I seen awhile back that also fit terribly and sagging around the mirror. Can't find it atm. Here's how the Mabett unit fits:
Frankly I was surprised. It fits well enough that I'd consider it for a privacy screen for those who enjoy boondocking. It sits tight with virtually zero light all the way around using the headliner, dash, and pillars as a wedge to support itself. The only downside I can see is you cannot use any windshield mounted gear, including dash cams unless it is mounted like mine (which is shit btw). I'll be trying it out with a fitcamx in the future and will report back to this thread.
As far as function, it does make a difference. I've been waiting for the weather to level out to get an exact measurement. But my truck parks outside in full sun and my job has me leaving around 5pm every day at the peak of interior temperatures. Going to work with the shade "feels" cooler but to be sure I'm going to test it. Ive tossed a thermometer in a shaded spot in the interior to measure temps with and without the shade today and tomorrow as there will be virtually zero deviation in the weather. A cool 84* full sun with low wind for both days for as standardized as I can test it. Ill post the results here.
