Maps in Digital Cluster?!

I was today years old when I found out we are supposed to have this feature on the tacomas equipped with the full digital instrument cluster… has anyone seen this feature? Apparently it’s in the manual also. I just stumbled across this feature online.

I also posted a youtube video of a Land Cruiser with same digital cluster explaining this feature that shows up and then disappears….

I drove a buddy's GMC Canyon and the whole cluster can be set to display navigation with the speed and other information superimposed over the map in the corner of the screen.

I was kind of hoping the Tacomas had this capability, but apparently not.

While it's a very high tech & a cool feature, I’m not buying any General Mess products.

That's not a current Tacoma. In regards to your question, probably not.

If the new 25 4Runners are anything to go by, the 25 Tacomas will also not have this center map function. Seems to be relegated to other vehicles like the Highlander, despite using the same gauge cluster, for some bewildering Toyota reason. Drives me crazy. At least we can still get some turn by turn directions on either side of the center stack, but it doesn’t look near as good :(

Thats silly. it would be so nice to have to not have to turn your head for the map.

Thats one thing I do get jealous about the Canyon; the full dashboard map.

You can get some turn by turn directions in either right or left gauge cluster while using your native maps app through carplay (apple maps) or android auto (google maps). It's a half measure to get there, but better than having to turn your head to the center screen.

Funny, I left the dealer and noticed that the map was displaying in my gauge cluster. I hit the escape button now. I can’t figure out how to turn it back on. There is no map option in that far left menu as displayed in that video.

Was it in the center of the gauge cluster or to the left? If in the center, it overtook whatever you had as your chosen center display for the amount of time needed to display that next direction, and there's no way to bring it up manually. If you want it more permanently up there, you have to choose Navigation as an option on either right or left gauge, and if it's not in the list of options, you need to add it by going left or right one further past the gauge to select what options you want. It's a bit convoluted and hard to explain, but there are videos out there showing how to customize it.

This is the closest thing I’ve seen so what you said, under settings, meter settings , I haven’t seen actual maps on the cluster since I’ve got my truck in January, however Apple Maps will do turn by turn on the HUD

So it seems to come up with just the upcoming turns automatically. Have never seen this before I brought it in for service. No map like in the video though.
