In my mind you can have unlimited "poke" so long as there is enough tire. If you had 5" of poke but a 16+" wide tire thats fine. But the tire should also be proportional, same with fender gap. So if someone managed to cram a set of 44" boggers under a Tacoma, with minimal lift its all good.
What makes me cringe is all the the GM trucks out there with their tiny square wheel wells. Which require a ton of lift and poke for not much more tire. For example:
Im sorry but GM hasn't made an even decent looking truck since the cat-eye, and if you insist on having a lifted truck GM does not make the product for you. Buy literally anything else. For crying out loud an Aveo looks better lifted:
