It's pretty obviously intended. There are a few possible reasons people have mentioned. Could be the primary mode of charging for the 12v system, could be a secondary mode of charging should the hybrid system fail. Could simply be for providing supplementary power while the engine is running for emergency reasons.Please no thread jacking.

Do you have a pic?Interesting. My 2024 Trailhunter built 9/24. No alternator. Just the single belt for the vacuum pump.
Also a US 2024 Trailhunter with a November build date. No alternator. Maybe a 24/25 split? Maybe US/Canada? As I said in another post there could be a couple reasons for deciding to utilize an alternator. The hybrid system isn't really the confusion. The question is, why does the 25 have an alternator if the 24 didn't need it?My 2025 TRD Pro has an alternator. Definitely for the 12 volt system. I don't recall if it may also help charge the hybrid battery pack at times.
The motor / generator is between the engine and transmission. It is a motor when you accelerate and a generator when you coast or brake. This is called regeneration or regen for short. (charging)
