Just wanted to share for anyone looking. While 265/70R17 is a popular tire size, it sure doesn't seem like many buy the c-load Toyos in that size. Most opt for the SLs or the E-loads. I felt like the c-load was a good happy medium between being tougher than stock, good aggressive sidewalls, and taller tread for longer tread life, but without being too harsh of ride quality.

I had the SR/SR5 premium alloy wheels and wasn't a huge fan, so I picked up a set of the 17" TRD OR wheels, and had the LT265/70R17 Toyo ATIIIs mounted and installed this afternoon. Rides and looks great. It actually even makes the work truck base model black bumper caps look good. I thought about going up to LT285/70R17 , but didn't want to hurt my gas mileage too much and also wanted to stay narrower to help with rock chips and such. I'm happy with the decision.

Love it. That’s the colour I really wanted but it’s only available on the Sport Premium in Canada and I prefer the OR trim. The lowest trim they sell here is the 4x4 SR5 double cab.

Thanks. It is a really sharp color and I'm glad it worked out that way. Ordinarily I kind of just get what I get, meaning what's available. I'm always chasing after whatever manual is available, and this one happened to be an order that someone gave up on, so when it became available I went and jumped on it. In the past that's always worked out to where my options are gray, black or white. Kinda cool having a colorful color for once. But, like you if it wasn't available in what I wanted, I'd be ok without it.

I actually think these wheels look better paired with a truck that doesn't have black fender flares. I really like the black fender flares on the ORs, but something about them with these wheels looks off to me. So I guess for my desire I sorta got the perfect package.

Well, if anyone wants to see what this setup looks like on 34X10.50R17 tires, stay tuned. The 265s didn’t last long with me lol. 7K miles in and I’ve seen enough larger tire pics to know I want larger. I didn’t want 285s or 255s, so I’m going with 34X10.50R17 Toyos instead. Loved these tires but they just look too small for the truck and larger will be better for future wheeling.

Going to also use an LT235/80R18 Toyo for the spare. Picked up a pristine hybrid 18” spare steelie. The 235 width should keep some ground clearance back there and it will not be far from full size. That 18x7 steel wheel is heavy AF.

Swap is happening Tuesday.

Well, the 34’s are installed. They don’t look that different, but it’s a nice subtle change. Really fills out the wheel wells nicely comparatively. On the truck, the tires don’t even look big, which is crazy to me.

It’s too early to say much about the tires but I do like them off my initial impressions. They handle very nice. Definitely took hits in both the acceleration and ride firmness categories but it’s not too terrible. My eventual 5.29 regear will bring a lot of that back I think. Time will tell on mpg.

Fitment wise, I don’t think there’s a tire out there that fits the truck better than these.

34X10.50R17 on the truck:

Comparing to the 265s. Keep in mind there is no weight on the 265s:

Spare tire photos and fitment - utilizing stock hybrid 18X7 steel spare. LR235/80R18 Toyo. Purchased from eBay. The tire is very close to the same diameter, about 0.7” off. It is pretty skinny which is great for this location since all the wider tires hang down so far.

Even as good as they look, I’m not sold on running the TRD OR wheels. My stock wheels are getting powder coated bronze as I type this. Likely going to be sporting those soon…..

That size looks great! Those are load range D, right? What pressure are you running at?

Yes they are, they're a bit different than a metric LT as LT Flotation (inch) vs LT Metric are rated a bit differently. But they are D load.

The math based on converting the factory pressure to be equivalent to the load table of these tires says 35 psi will maintain stock load capacity. However, I am running mine at 32 psi front and 30 psi rear because factory pressures are generally notoriously high due to fuel economy goals and really conservative loading specs.

These tires at 35 psi are capable of a 2100 lb load, so 8400 for the entire truck, which is a bit excessive. Where I have mine is about 7600 lbs total capacity, still a lot and more than I need in capacity but feels better to drive and seems to have good traction.
