Outfitting a New 2026 Tacoma Trailhunter - recommendations?

This is my first Tacoma (2026 Trail Hunter) and we just picked it up at the dealer. I what hoping for some recommendations on outfitting the truck. Specifically the following items:

1. Bed Mat
2. Secure (lockable)/durable bed cover.
3. Power Running boards - durable, relatively easy to install and if it make sense to use the Toyota switch and control versus third party provided.
4. Any other initial "Must Haves" I don't have listed?
5. What 3rd party suppliers are the best to work with.

1. Lasfit has a good bed mat. I have that on my truck.
2. I've seen a lot of bakflip MX4 as far as the tonneau cover. It's not lockable but the bed is locked when you lock the doors so maybe that's not as much of an issue. I think the retrax pro is lockable if you go that route.
3. I don't know any on this one
4. I would say "must haves" are better defined by what you want to do with it. I got this stuff on mine:

• molle panels in the bed
• recovery boards
• a roof rack and an awning
• Ditch lights and a light bar on the roof rack

All this because I like going camping / off-road. Must haves are definitely dependent on what you want to do with your truck
5. I've worked with Trumgeta and they are really easy to deal with but I've definitely gone with other brands based on the mod I'm doing as well.

It depends on what you want to do with the truck. For example, I wouldn't put running boards on it if you plan to do any significant offroading with it. The rock sliders on the Trailhunter are frame mounted and can take the weight of the truck when needed on rocky trails. There are some "Predator" style steps that bolt on to existing holes in the OEM Trailhunter rock rails that can be useful. I use one on my passenger front side and remove it before hitting the trails.

But if you'll just be on gravel roads or something else mild then running boards are fine IMO. If a bit of rock crawling is in your future, then I'd also be thinking about a front bumper, winch, and several additional skid plates.

Congrats on the 2026 Trailhunter! For your outfitting needs, look into these top-tier options IMO

Bed Mat: The genuine Toyota Bed Mat is cheap ($170), perfectly contoured, and doesn't interfere with the Trailhunter's bedside utility features.

Bed Cover: The BAKFlip MX4 Hard Folding Cover provides heavy-duty security and folds up against the rear window without blocking your ARB bed rack.

Power Boards: Go with the AMP Research PowerStep. They are incredibly durable, tuck tightly to the frame to protect against obstacles, and utilize dedicated plug-and-play modules rather than needing the OEM dash switch.

Must-Haves: A screen protector for the massive infotainment, WeatherTech Floor Liners, and a lockable storage case (like a Pelican case) strapped into your bed or onto the ARB rack.

• screen protech matte finish (get the backup set too, i actually needed one when i botched putting on the vented seat protector)
• z-precision larger cup holders (easy installation, just a bunch of steps.)
• bet mat (like others have said. I got one like the lasfit, and bolted it to the bed to be safe, you may have to cutout bits for your tiedown points). Not having stuff slide around is great.
• lasfit floormats, i got the whole set.
• Better tires, I went with Ko3 275/75/18. The spare does fit as is, but barely. didn't have to air it down. Got a flat randomly on the OEM tires. speaking of which
• Maybe a better jack? The OEM bottle jack was barely able to give me enough lift to get the spare on, given it was terrible road conditions and bad angle/curvature in the road, but we had to max that thing out. Still was the hero at the end of the day.

I also got meso customs map and dome lights. Installing the maplights is annoying, but they make me feel cool. Still need a tonneau and probably need to ditch the sports rack, goofy that it is, it's visually grown on me.
