Hey folks,
We were chatting the other day about how people use their rigs off pavement, and it turned into a fun little debate.
There seem to be two pretty different styles of driving, and we weren’t sure what people usually call them.
Here’s what I mean
Style 1 — Long-distance, adventure-type trips
Style 2 — Short-distance, technical trails
We’ve been updating some of our product descriptions lately, and figured it’d be smart to ask how people here usually describe these two styles.
Not trying to sound smart — just curious to learn how everyone talks about it.
Always cool to hear from folks who’ve been doing this longer than we have.
Appreciate it, guys

Style 1 — Long-distance, adventure-type trips
- Multi-day travel across deserts, mountains, forests, mud, sand — all kinds of terrain.
- Focus on reliability, storage, and gear setup.
- Not about the hardest trail, more about making it through the whole journey.
Style 2 — Short-distance, technical trails
- Tough terrain – rocks, deep mud, steep climbs.
- All about vehicle capability and driver skill.
- Lift kits, lockers, tires – you know the deal.
