Sorry if this has been previously covered, I didn't find anything with my search of the forums. My upper radiator hose appears to be dis-colored for some reason. I have never seen this before. I have just under 5K miles and this is the first time noticing this when under the hood.

Is this common with the 2.4? Maybe due to all of the heat these small displacement turbos produce? Should I be concerned these hoses, that are already hot, are going to fail?

I think this is just common with most rubber formulations in general. The hoses and rubber boots on my motorcycle do the same thing. I just wipe them down with a damp microfiber when detailing it and they look good as new again.

This has been brought up many times over the years and normal. Read where one said it was from a mold release agent used to help release the hose from the mold.

I generally wipe down every thing with a terry cloth rag that is wet with waterless car wash every time I service and it keeps everything looking new.

I have a couple of auto parts stores and have been working in auto parts since I was a kid, 39 years ago…. Brand new radiator hoses will get that white coating as well. The hoses are still fine, just looks weird

Thanks everyone for letting me know its normal. I don't recall seeing this before so it made me concerned when I first saw it.
