I had my truck in for routine service yesterday. When I was speaking with the service rep about what needed to be done I asked about the brake line recall. He just said, "Sure we can do that. It will take some extra time, are you ok with waiting for 3 hours for us to get everything done?" I honestly wasn't expecting to be able to get it done so quickly, but fortunately I had the time, so I said I'll wait. I'm using Larry H. Miller Toyota in Albuquerque. They got it done, no big deal at all.

Nice to hear it was hassle-free for you. I had it done last week, but it wasn't as smooth sailing. Apparently, they had to 'calibrate' the parking brake actuators after the recall and one of them short circuited and threw a code. Had to use a rental for a couple days while they got the new part in.

Don't know how much of that I should believe but it's been problem-free ever since.

Not sure why they even had to touch the parking brake at all seeing all this recall entails, is removing the flex hoses and bleeding them to remove air in the system. Calipers shouldn't even need to be put in service mode or removed or anything. Sounds like they let an inexperienced tech do it, and he ended up making a mistake.

I was a technician. It usually means "We broke something we weren't supposed to touch"

I 100% agree with you. It's only the flex hoses and bleeding procedure. Some tech made an oppsie for sure. Wasn't going to call them out on it as it was warrantied but it was annoying, nonetheless.

Any chance you have a picture of the fix? I just asked my dealership to order the parts (not sure why I had to ask them to order them but oh well) so I'd like to see what it should look like after they perform the recal.

Apparently the fix adds about an inch of clearance between the wheel & line, but it's still the exact same layout for the most part.

Dealers ask because we special order them from Toyota by VIN. Its not something we can just keep in stock or add to a regular order.
