How reliable are the dates listed for specific VINs on dealer websites?

My truck entered production on 6/23, still shows in build phase, and shows an estimated delivery date of 9/20.

Another truck for a different dealership (but same metro area) is listed as in transit with an estimated delivery date of 9/5, despite the dealer today saying it enters production next week. Same trim/overall build.

That far out? Probably not all that reliable.

dates much closer to build are more reliable.

Do you mind sharing that dealer's website? I'm curious to see the data. I've got an allocation coming and don't see that info on my dealer's site.

The dealer inventory/allotments shows on Toyotas website with similar matches beneath your build. Smart path if I remember. Also when I was calling around looking for deals one salesman stopped me in my tracks and said I have two trd off roads on the lot and will take 3 grand off them today but the ones in transit and build phase he said listen I will work a deal when they are physically here because we are arguing the price of a ghost truck. I loved his honesty and he was right how can you negotiate on something that is not there. I used Toyota website to see what each dealer had not the dealership website.
