Hi everyone, I just leased an sr5 dc and it had the non negotiable dealer security system from Karr.

I didn't get any extra remotes or maybe for any subscriptions. I think this was installed to also secure their inventory while on the lot or in case of report from what I've read online.

Since this is a lease, can I remove it? I found the button under the steering column panel and looking at posts from others, it's installed with wire taps.

being a lease makes this complicated. You should check your contract

Good point @bking. When you lease a vehicle you don't own it, the lease company does and they could easily require that to protect their property.

I would think no since it is a lease. I would read the contracts fine print.

I wouldn't touch it if it's a lease, but for anyone else interested... they install that crappy alarm behind the glovebox.

I'm planning on installing a solar trickle charger on my 4G SR5. I think that using OBD2 is a good way to feed about 1 Amp of juice. I checked my OBD2 and found two t-connectors already there. After some investigation I found a dealer tracker. I attached a photo with my finger pointing at the area were the tracker was located. It's gone now.

If I ever came across and found those "suitcase" connectors anywhere on my brand new truck I'd cuss the dealer out and make them buy me a brand new replacement harness or file a lawsuit to have one installed.

Those are by far the most detrimental way you can possibly make a wiring connection. The idiots that use house wire nuts are making better connections. The wiring will corrode and cause issues down the road. It's not an if there's a problem, it is a when. There is no excuse to use them. Infact the shop I have do my remote start installs refuses to use them, and that alone was the sole deciding factor of why I chose them.

That led toggle looks very similar to mine mounted under the steering wheel. Is that a Karr Security device? Also how hard was it to remove?
