I was asked to provide a review of the @TRUMGETA 1000 lbs Roof Rack for 2024 2025 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab. Full disclosure, this product was provided to me by TRUMGETA in exchange for an honest review. Before I go on, I'd like to say that I know there's skepticism when products are provided for review by a company but I will do my best to be 100% honest based on my experience. Here we go.
Pros:
The installation instructions provided clear pictures of every step. I found the installation to be MOSTLY simple. I'll talk about my one issue in the Cons section. It was minor but definitely worth mentioning. TRUMGETA did provide waterproofing gaskets but I did opt to throw on some silicone around the areas where I installed the mounting bracket to the truck. That was not part of the installation instructions but I had seen some videos that recommmended it.
The rack itself seems VERY sturdy and offers a good amount of mounting options for additional accessories. The crossbars were SUPER simple to install and everything lined up really well.
Aesthetics: The rack looks AWESOME. I really like the low profile design. I have 285/70/r17 tires and I'm still able to get the truck into the garage with the rack installed. It barely adds height above the antenna fin in the back of the roof. I'm looking forward to getting some storage cases to mount into the provided t-slots in each of the cross-bars. I bet there are countless things you can mount up there!
Cons:
I have 2 cons, both minor, but definitely something I wanted to mention. The front baffle was particularly challenging to install due to the sliding chute nuts. The instructions tell you to install the front baffle after you mount the other parts of the rack. I tried this but it was too difficult to line everything up. I opted to line everything up on the bed of my truck and do a loose fitting. I then mounted the crossbar with the front baffle loose so I could fit it into place. This is definitely not a deal breaker but something that might be a better way to improve the instructions that come with the rack.
Aesthetics: This is super minor as well (and maybe a preference for some) but I wish the hardware would have been black instead of stainless steal to keep the blacked out look of the rack. Again, super minor and definitely a personal preference.
Overall I'd say it was a pretty simple install and I'd definitely recommend this rack, especially at this price point. It has enough options to allow you to make it your own and it looks really nice. The entire install took me about 2 hours, but most of that was figuring out the better way to install the front baffle. One last thing, it might be overkill but I did use blue Loctite on the cross bars. Maybe it'll help long term, maybe not, but that was a personal choice that wasn't part of the instructions. I hope this is helpful to everyone while you are looking for stuff to add to your trucks!
