Going to play follow the leader with my nephew and a couple of brothers so I pulled the spare from underneath the bed. Looking up I see a lot of expensive looking fragile cr*p that I'd really like to not have to replace.
Also, the hitch is like the tailhook on a carrier plane, anything over 12" is gonna require a jack to get past (spare bounces the truck far enough that you can scrape by).
Anyone know of a skid plate for that area. Ideally it would let you slide off of rocks without snagging the hitch any more than it does with the spare. Would also be nice if it were easy to take off so you could put the spare back for street driving.

I’d be far more concerned about the drive shaft, rear differential or the end links. You’d likely be tearing stuff up well before it wedged in the spare tire compartment.

I off road fairly often and I also pull my spare tire, zero problems other that the chain that holds the spare clanking around šŸ˜‚ The hitch drags often but it’s plenty stout.

While not a skid plate, could this help with the tailhook?
