Hey guys, I wanted to see if anyone here has had long term experience with the Stillen Exhaust. How do you like it in daily use? How noticeable is the drone? Have you felt any real power gains, maybe dyno versus what is being claimed?

I really want the AWE system, but the Stillen price point is a lot more appealing along with the high HP gains. I’ve tried looking up YouTube videos, but there are very few sound clips outside of the ones Stillen provides.

If you’re running it, I’d really appreciate your thoughts. And if possible, sharing a quick video would be great for reference, especially for others who might be in the same position down the road but can’t find much real world info.

I installed mine probably 9 months ago. It's a trail exhaust with the axle dump. The sound is good. I would say not too loud at all. I did have a fitment issue because I have a long box. Stillen said it would fit. It doesn't. I had to take it to a muffler shop and get an extension added to it. Stillen covered the cost, so I can't complain other than the lost time. As far as performance, all I had was the butt dyno. I'm gonna report that I could not feel a difference. I asked the exhaust guy about the HP gain. He rolled his eyes and shook his head. I also asked Cam from Camtuning about it. He had a similar reaction. I will share that the exhaust guy pointed out that with a trail exhaust you should change your diff oil more frequently. He said twice as frequently because the heat from the exhaust is dumped right next to the diff. In summary, If you want power you can notice outside of a tune, a person needs to get all the mods (exhaust and CAI and bigger turbo and downpipe and intercooler) then those, along with the tune will get you power you actually notice. I'll post a video in the near future of the sound. Honestly, it sounds like every other aftermarket exhaust.

I talked to a good friend who owns a muffler shop and he said about the same thing, no substantial gain from changing the exhaust, the intake,
UNLESS YOU CHANGE EVERYTHING AS DESCRIBED BY 24 TRD OR. Every thing from the intercooler to the tip of the exhaust.
He wouldn't even build me an axle dump pipe, I had to get one from,

Sixth element. 🤑

Personally I am wanting for the long term results from changing everything before I purchase everything required. I wish too avoid parts that don't fit together and possibly damage everything from the engine too the transmission, transfer cases,
you probably get were I am going with this.

Did you ever post a YouTube video about this? I swear I watched a guy online talking about having to extend the pipe near the flange because of some hanger issue early in the production cycle. I’m no stranger to loud cars since pretty much everything at my house is titanium straight piped, but honestly, it’s kind of nice having something that isn’t obnoxious for once. I want the truck to have some character without sounding overly loud or screaming “rice.”

I really love the AWE setup, but I’m also a pretty frugal person. At the end of the day, I know it’s still a turbo 4 cylinder, but I think it’s possible to make them sound decent without going overboard. Magnaflow is pretty much out of the question for me since it sounds almost identical to stock, so it feels pointless. Carven might be next on the list. Stillen is appealing because of the price point and the claimed HP gains, especially since I haven’t really been able to find dyno results for the others.

I already have the SXTH intake and boost tubes sitting on standby. I’m just waiting to pair them with an exhaust so I can install everything at once and actually feel a noticeable difference instead of small incremental changes. I am considering an intercooler for it, but I will hold off on that until my bank looks a bit more appealing lol. Truck is currently at the PPF shop getting wrapped. Wife isn't too happy with all these boxes piling up in the living room.

I really like the sound of it. It has a nice purr, especially with the startup. But it is by no means obnoxious. People aren't surprised that I'm not a teenager driving it around if u know what I mean. I think it's a good value exhaust and would recommend it. I'm just dubious on their claimed power gains.

I got extremely lucky, and a member from the TW forum that lives a few hours from me offered to trade his AWE exhaust for my factory exhaust with an axle dump. While I do like the exhaust, it definitely walks a fine line when it comes to sounding too obnoxious. I had considered the Carven before I stumbled across this deal - I think it would be much worse than the AWE in terms of sound.

I don't think I would've ever pulled the trigger on the AWE if I were responsible for the cost, as I am very frugal as well. That being said, don't compromise on the exhaust. Either save up for one of the better systems, or don't do it at all. You'll thank yourself in the end.

The Sxth axle dump added the slightest touch of deeper sound, and honestly, I would have been totally satisfied with that had this deal not come up.

This is awesome. Your video was super informative and honestly a big part of why I’m leaning toward it now. I definitely 100% blame you for that, jk lol. When I first watched it, I got the impression that it was still more of a prototype since you mentioned relaying your findings back to HQ so they could improve a few things before.

If you ever get the chance to do a drive by clip with the POV from outside the vehicle using low, mid, and high throttle, that would be awesome. Being sort of a new platform, I think it would help a lot of people who are on the fence and trying to decide whether to make the jump. I'm not entirely hopeful on their power claims, but I do hope i'd make atleast half, especially when pairing it with intake & tubes.

Yup, I feel the same way. I was originally planning to save up for the AWE, but I honestly wouldn’t mind settling for the Stillen if the sound ends up being just right for daily driving. The lower price point definitely makes it more appealing too, especially if the difference in overall volume isn’t that drastic. My tolerance for louder exhausts is probably a little higher than some, but not to the point where I want to daily drive something that sounds like a straight piped Lamborghini all the time.

Think more Honda Civic and less Lambo when we're talking about exhaust for these trucks lol.
