Looking for options to secure a spare tire (285/70/17) in the bed. Open to laying flat or upright. Want to be able to secure it to prevent theft as well, although I only plan to carry the tire when overloading. For every day driving, I've got a plug kit, etc. I suppose the most basic would be some ratchet straps along with a chain/lock, but hoping there are some better methods out there, either available or upcoming.

This also begs the question of why I continue to carry the spare under the bed; fair to remove it to shed weight? Also not looking to carry the spare in its place due to the reduced clearance.

So far I've been running with no replacement tire as I haven't been running any rough trails on my camping trips. I've got a tire puncture repair kit and sidewall repair kit. I figure if push comes to shove I can limp somewhere on the spare under the bed.
