Oil pump on the T24 is driven off the balance shaft directly via metal (polymer coated) gears. It's the large part under the crankshaft that kind of looks like a twin scroll supercharger. Overall a very robust design IMOI'm sure I'm missing something, but if this was a human error, why not warranty claim? Also, I must have missed it, but noted the very simple chain driven timing system, however I failed to see where the oil pump was. It doesn't appear to be driven off the front of the crank, nor did I note any sprocket/chain associated with it, only the oil galleys with the oil cooler/filter assembly.
