Received my Rave painted door handle covers a couple of weeks ago. I'm not really impressed my them. Color (Underground Grey) is a hair too dark, and the fit isn't great. They look like the $50 Chinese covers with a paint job, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they are. Plus, they arrived 3 weeks past the published lead time. I guess I expected more for $355.
The covers are probably the same ones I bought on eBay for $20. I spent a lot of time hunting for vinyl that would match and came really close. It’s not perfect and my wrapping skills are subpar, but it does the job. The shade changes with the light and angles anyway, so an exact match isn’t necessary. Eventually, I’m hoping to pick up some used door handles from either a Tacoma or a Tundra.

What vinyl did you use? I couldn't find a good match.

Figured I'd post my progress on my blackout build for my '24 WCP Limited.

Was between the TRD Sport & Limited when I was buying my truck, but was never a fan of the scoop. So, I needed to figure out how to get rid of the chrome, and quickly :)

After 3 months and approximately 5K miles, love the truck. Plan on pulling my trailer to Moab (from Chicago) next month and we'll see how she does on her first true long distance towing test.

Done so far :

-> OE TRD Pro Heritage Grill w/ Heretic 20" Lightbar
-> OE Black Lower Bumper Trim
-> OE Gloss Black Mirror Caps
-> OE Badge Blackout
-> Blackout Door Handle Covers
-> OE TRD Skid (Aluminum)
-> 18x8 RAYS ALAP-07X +32
-> Wildpeak AT4W 265/70R18
-> KYO-EI +10mm Wheel Studs
-> Ark Mudguards
-> Bedstep
-> Viofo Dashcam
-> Lomax Urethane Tonneau

Left to do :

-> Roof Crossbars (maybe a rack)
-> Blackout Tailgate Lettering
-> Blackout Tailgate Handle
-> WCS Antenna Install (if I can ever figure it out)

Im looking at buying a limited and blacking it out. Was wondering if you can answer some questions. Minus wheels and tires ball park cost to do this in parts? Any hassles putting in parts? Any reason why you didnt go with wrapping them? I was thinking of going the route of wrapping the grill and front bumper. Didn't think about replacing parts as an option.

Figure you're into the grille for about $300, minus any lighting

Light bar has huge cost range depending on what you pick ($200-$1200). My Diode Dynamics was around $400

You'll need the mounting brackets and the adjusted camera bracket. About $75 unless you fabricate or 3d print yourself.

The upper bumper will run you about $150, and you'll need the one with both fog and sensor cutouts (IIRC this is variant #5), plus two sensor mounts (about $20-25). If you didn't want it black then you'd have paint and possibly ppf costs.

Tailgate letters are about $100 if you replace, free if you just pull off.

If you don't already have blacked out side badges, that'd be about $40 or so.

Tailpipe is free to just remove chrome finish tip, free to cut down/paint, or about $120 for OEM trail dump exhaust.

Mirror backs are $80 each to OEM swap to black, gloss back, or factory paint match. Double that for factory PPF applied.

This brings you down to the door and tailgate handles. Free to leave. Plasticoat is next cheapest ($12ish). Vinyl wrap next. Replacement handle caps next, and full on replacement most expensive.

All pricing is rough/approximate for budgeting and does not attempt to consider regular sales cycles or promotions of various online dealers or parts sites.

Baltimore, I’ve got a limited ordered and trying to get all my ducks in a row and parts ordered ahead of time to black out the chrome.

I think I understand everything expect the sensor mounts. So order two mounts/retainers. (89348-04010-C1). Then I can take the new black front bumper cover, attach the two new black mounts/retainers, then connect the sensors to them? Anything else I’m missing or is it pretty straight forward when I pull off the grill and bumper?

Afterwards I’ll recalibrate (I’ve saved one thread on recalibrating).

Hey there,

Mirror backs:
87915-AK030-## & 87945-AK030-## [RH, LH]
note: the "##" at the end is the color code. it'll vary by what you want. But the first two strings will be the same for the mirror back, with turn signal cutout.

Black tailgate letter inserts:
PT948-35241-02

Wheels:
OEM TRD matte black 18" wheel: TRD 18-In. Flat Black Alloy Wheel = PTR56-35242-F1
Wheel Center Cap - TRD Pro Flat Black/Red = PT280-34221-2F
Lug nut = Hub Nut with Washer (Alloy Lug Nuts - Flat Black) = 90942-A1008 [!! this is in each, not sold in sets]

Splash Shield / "Whistle"
Replacement of heavy felt splash shield with hard composite splash shield
Engine Cover Assembly #1 (plastic skid / splash plate) [Forward] 51410-AK020
Engine Cover Assembly #2 (plastic skid / splash plate) [Rear] 51420-AK021
Engine Cover Assembly Splash Shield Bolt [Qty = +4] 90119-A0549
Hole Plug (PLUG, HOLE(FOR FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM) ) [Qty = 8] 90950-A1021 [stops the 'whistle' if you remove the lower air dam]
(I have a separate "DIY" post on this that you can search if desired)

Upper Front Bumper
Extension, Front Bumper, Upper [Fog light grille, with sensors, matte black] 53931-AK050
Retainer, Ultrasonic Sensor [Qty = 2] [black] 89348-04010-C1
!! Note: your sensor face on the front center two will still be silver/titanium. To replace those with black or color keyed ones requires a GTS+ controlled calibration since each location/position is serial number linked in the calibration.
... For me, I opted to skip this cost and leave the sensors silver, but change the surround. This left me with only the camera calibration that you can do yourself with no specialized tools. In my setup, I painted the upper bumper to color match and it blends in decently enough with the Bronze Oxide color.

For reference:
Extension, Front Bumper, Upper [Fog light grille, with sensors, Limited chrome] 53931-AK030
Retainer, Ultrasonic Sensor [Qty = 2] [titanium] [used on Limited chrome] 89348-04010-B3

Thanks!!!
And yes,
Order the bumper, order two mounts. The sensor holes should be pre-cut if you received the correct black bumper. There is a stamped image on the back of the bumper for you to align the mount and attach it (3M tape). Use your removed one as a reference. The sensors themselves unplug, then unclip from the retainers. !! Do one at a time or mark which is left, which is right - they have to go back to exact same positions. Clip back into new retainers, then reinstall, and plug back in.

I found the plug on the sensor wires highly annoying due to the tiny latch mechanism, but your experience might be different.
