Hey everyone — Tacoma thefts are getting worse, and thieves are using some pretty advanced tricks to do it.

They’re not breaking windows anymore… they’re using relay boxes, CAN bus injections, and OBD port hacks to steal trucks in under two minutes — even with the keys sitting safely inside your house.

I just released a new video on my channel SmokyMtnTaco breaking down how these thefts happen (in plain English) and the six proven protections that actually stop them.

Here’s what I cover:
🔹 Remote battery kill switch — cuts power to block CAN/relay start attempts
🔹 OBD2 protector — locks down the OBD port from hackers
🔹 Faraday pouch + keyfob disable — prevents relay signal theft
🔹 Tailgate lock — stops quick tailgate grabs
🔹 McGard wheel locks — visible deterrent for wheels and tires
🔹 Console safe — keeps keys and valuables secure inside

🎥 Watch the full video here:

If you’ve had a close call or you’re already using anti-theft gear, drop a comment with what’s working for you 👇
I’m putting together a community-driven Tacoma Anti-Theft Checklist so new owners can protect themselves before it’s too late.

Let’s keep our Tacomas in our driveways — not in a container halfway around the world.

If the CAN BUS attacks can disable the GPS and Toyota has no idea where the damn truck is then there’s absolutely zero reason to run power to the vehicle in the middle of the night when these perps are out looking to take your shit. Air tag buried in the vehicle, Remote battery disconnect, locked conveniently under the Goose Gear platform. Couple that with a kill switch, you now go from having 1 fob to 3 for all the other security layers. Could be so much easier, software immobilizer + PIN code to drive.

Thanks Toyota
